Snow or Cold?

Which do you prefer? Luckily for us in Chicago, moping we don't have to choose. Today a balmy 12 degrees. Expecting 7- 13 inches of snow (depending on what part of the area you live in) by tomorrow night but tomorrow's high will seem like a tropical 34 degrees. Then come Tues, Wed and Thursday - the bottom falls out.
Tuesday's high 1
Wednesday's high -11 (with a possible wind chill of -50)
Thursday ohh we might see 0 with still high possibility of -45 wind chill)
So if it's winter you like then come on down to Chicago! You know, The Windy City!

I was surprised to hear we were going to have the combination. From what I recall, it is usually not that cold when it snows. Stay safe/warm.
Cold + Snow = Sno-Cone cool
Outside that context I despise 'em equally devil

Worst cold/wind combo I've ever experienced was something like -30* F & 20 mph wind...rare getting that cold & that much wind.

Wind chill was about -150 F.
Time one could be outside was measured in minutes while wearing Arctic survival gear.
It felt like everything in the world was trying to kill you.

Just heard it mentioned on the news...

we have both its -16 and its supposed to get colder plus we are expecting a snow storm.....wave
Thank you Johnny - we've hunkered in for now. Some schools have already shut down for the next few days. I hear there have also been some companies that told their employees to stay home Wed and Thurs. so we'll see. Furnace has been running non stop - only got about 6 inches of snow so better than they originally thought for the city anyway.
Niceguy - I hear ya' on that. Less risk of slipping and falling as well. I will say - the older I get the more I understand why people move south to retire. I've lived here all of my life and the older I get the more I dislike the winter laugh
Mr mic - It would be kind of funny if we had a global warming convention here right now...supposed to be 3 tomorrow for our "high". -13 on Wed for the high with windchills up to -50 and Thursday -2 windchills up to -45. My granddaughter has school tomorrow but they have already said they'll be closed on Wed and Thursday.
I told her that we would bake something and make some popcorn and maybe watch a movie or 2. I'm staying put. (blanket in tow) Luckily our heat is included in our rent laugh
ms mischief - I feel for ya'.....stay warm and safe. It's so easy to let that freeze bite catch up on you.
Hi KP, I heard about the Wind Chill Warning, take care! hug
Thanks Mimi They just closed the Public Schools for Wed. They are telling everyone to stay in if you can. I'm lucky, I don't have to go anywhere laugh I promised my granddaughter that we'd bake something and a nice hot pot of soup is starting to sound pretty good!
Not too sure about your granddaughter but my kids ( when they were like 13 or 14 ), were thrilled when the typhoon hit during a school day!

We were living in Macau then and May to early Nov- typhoon season. There was this one year when the typhoon hit Macau on a weekend and my kids were devastated! coz they need not attend anyhow on weekends doh
MiMi my granddaughter is only 4 and she is attending a very tiny private, religion based school. They're are only about 40 students in the whole Pre-K through 8th grade school. She's in pre-school. My other granddaughter is 1-1/2 and a typhoon in her own right! Anyway, the pre-school already had notified the parents earlier today that the school would not be open on Wed or Thurs. so I'll have both of them for a couple of days which will be fun!
I remember when we were young - we prayed for snow days which, unlike now, were few and far between. Nowadays they seem to close them for any little reason.
Ooohhhhh KP! You’d have your hands full!!! applause

I have something to show you....

It's hard to complain about the cold in Florida. I think we are on a 4th day in a row of it being cold enough to wear a light jacket. If I go to complain about the cold I then see what cold really is on the news or blogs and realize I have nothing to complain about.

Don't move to Florida because there is already enough snowbirds here. That's in my bucket list, I want to become a snow bird someday.
wave Fay!

We all KNOW you work for Florida's Dept. Of Tourism & Tampa's Visitor's Bureau.
I'm guessing you have a motel operation too.

The seasons are the same every year, as is the annual moaning of you lot about how it´s too hot or too cold.
I´m going underground so I don´t have to listen to you anymoremumbling
It should Snow always when it's cold. May over 105 inches in Snow. Twice in my life has a record Snowfall. February looks promising for some snow. But the Weather man changes his mind Daily. If a rooster gets too crow on clockwork. Why can't the Weatherman be as wiselaugh
I like the cold and winter from Germany.
I really shouldn't complain - we didn't get as much snow as expected. I swear the news get you all hyped up for nothing laugh But it is "stupid" cold as my son calls it and expecting worse for tomorrow but the weekend is looking a lot better.

I don't like winter. I've never been a winter person. My area frequently goes well below zero quite often most years.

If I had a choice; it would be snow.

Snow generally means it's not AS cold out side.

Too bad it can't be late spring, early summer year round.sigh
Well mic - Saturday looks like freezing drizzle but at least up in the 30's.
Just get through the next 2 days and a little warm up for the weekend laugh
Swamie - we get all kinds of crazy here. The only thing that drops are the robberies and the shootings because no one is out unless they have to be. dunno
Draeg - yeah Michigan gets its' share of snow. I have relatives up in the UP. They used to laugh at us when we'd get what they consider a little bit of snow and the big bad city would shut down laugh
Hello kpthatsme wave from Saskatchewan, We had a severe cold warning today in our province doh As for Snow or cold, I prefer the cold, the snow fall is usually rare at cold temps, no snow to shovel, yay I don t care for the wind, it brings cold temps (windchill) and drifting snow with it. (can t win for loosing doh )
It's supposed to be super cold here but I've experienced colder weather since I'm from my home state of Michigan.
Hi 1 I bet it's really cold up there a lot more often than it is here! The last time it was this bad was about 30 years ago. Keep warm!!!
Hey Bear!wave I know it can get bad in Michigan as well. I still have relatives up in the UP. Yep my parents were "Yoopers". laugh Hopefully your weather there won't get too bad!
Snow or Cold?

wave Back again, A few days ago , we had a warmer day doh along with that came freezing rain doh , then back into the deep freeze with wind warnings and drifting snow. Rather icy conditions (scary) Made it bad for walking and driving. Its been a different winter doh
No kidding mic! laugh My choice has to be cold. Only because I have aged a few years trying to navigate walking on ice/snow.....dancing
Always welcome 1 - we were in the 30's yesterday but we also got 6 inches of snow...so our weather seems to be following yours. They said there was a big Arctic Clipper coming in that caused this mess!
