Taxing you on the bags is brought to you by Democrat run socialist organizations like this one who are forcing companies like Walmart to charge you.
10 cents won't burden anyone and yet it encourages those who don't need a bag to not take one
and for others to bring a bag they already have from previously shopping, or to use a cardboard box
in one of their bins.
This results in fewer plastic bags blowing around, which is a good thing.
Hopefully other retail companies will follow suit.
Are you talking about the plastic bag?
Here in some cities, supermarkets have started charging IDR 200 per plastic bag since several years ago. The purpose is to discourage costumers to use more and more plastic bags and encourage them to bring their own bags.
In my city, supermarkets are even not allowed to provide plastic bag at all by the Local Government. Make the City Green Program.. We called it. Less soil pollution.. or something like that.
Good news is.. No one has complained.. let alone blaiming on other parties!
Reducing plastic bags use is a good program, don't you think?
Take your recycling bags with you when shopping.
It truly serves no purpose other than stores making extra money. People still pay for the bags, and those people on food stamps get them free.
The plastic bags still get out and trashed, circulated or dumped wherever. The only way to truly get rid of plastic bags, if that’s their mission, is to just STOP making them.
The bags that are being charged for are paper bags.walmart. is a cheap outfit.
I've been using reusable cloth bags for years as have many others, it's not a big deal.
Maybe, we should really consider these bags produce to disintegrate in our soil without harming the environment in just as good as three days. Voila. problem solve.
We must eliminate plastic we are choking the sea and fish are dying.
Plastic is an epidemic, unnecessary wrapping has become a joke except not remotely funny from a pollution point of view. I think everybody should spend a week a year sorting town refuse - more important than jury duty
I think it's about .25c a bag. I
t was one of the best laws ever brought in.
Money money money.
The people have given (there) rights to the government.
The gas cost the stores far lesssssss then a penny a piece.
Also, where is that money supposedly going????
If it's California, it's not going to where it's supposed to go.
People stop complaining and take action.
As far as I know no one is forced to shop at Walmart. If you don't want to pay the fee for bags, nothing is stopping you from shopping somewhere else.
But someone may well be forcing you to pay the fee no matter where you go: the socialists in government who are passing these tyrannical laws forcing stores to charge you this fee.
If you are blaming the stores for these sick in the head fees instead of the Democrats (a.k.a. socialists) then the socialists have you right where they want you... dazed and confused.
It doesn't break the bank in fact you can reuse them anyway.
Plastic is hazardous to the environment.
If you want to do something proactive, and leave this planet a better place for your children and their children, then each small bit we do will help. Take your own biodegradable re-usable bags to stores, to pack your purchases.
I've been doing just that for many years now.
Our supermarket chains have done their bit in phasing out plastic shopping carry bags completely.
I'd hate to think the US is dragging its heels on the issue...
Perhaps we have to question the "Developed"
"each paper bag requires a tree to be felled."
Sorry dude but that is like saying you can only make 1 paper bag out of a whole tree. Also, I'm of the belief that paper bags are less environmentally damaging than plastic as they can be recycled into new bags and biodegrade whereas plastic doesn't. The brown paper bags you get from super markets and other retail vendors are all made from 100% recycled paper so no live trees are cut down.
