Dealing with frustration

Words do not adequately describe how annoying and frustrating it can be to even work with screws or bolts this tiny (shown on a quarter), much less drill and tap accurately placed bolt holes for them in tough hardened steels.

An even greater joy occurs when a hardened tap snaps in two half way down the new bolt hole and said tap turns out to be made of harder steel than the drill bits available. Of course when that happens, even after you somehow manage to more or less remove the tap, the hole is now over sized and must be welded shut, then smoothed and re-drilled, then re-tapped (with a new not yet broken tap) and threaded.

So what things do you do for fun?

Ken I wouldn't be able to see them.
Now a days even to read instructions on bottles or something I have to take a photo and then amplie on the phone.
I know after the frustration & hard work, you are happy with the outcome.

I don't do projects like that. If the art work can't come together in two hours, i have no interest. laugh
This is not related unfortunately but, I find it equally frustrating..

Having to discuss a technology problem with a rep is very annoying to me starting with getting a live rep to help in the first place.

Hmm I never thought of selling girdles for fun. rolling on the floor laughing

Well the weld is done and polished flat, blued and the new hole drilled.

Ooby this time around instead of tapping by hand I will just put the tap in my mill, clamp the work down and let the mill's tap feature do the work. I will set it for 7 inch pounds torque. The computer in the mill will be a lot more consistent than I can be.

Someone ask me why I didn't do that the first time, it is because although I do have 21st century equipment/tools, my head is still sometimes stuck in a 1960s way of doing things. sigh
