Room with a view

The view from my window is uninteresting; in fact, after three years of looking at the scene with absolutely nothing happening It had become almost unbearably boring. As with so many things that have to be put up with in this life, my mind’s response was to adjust its tolerance threshold; it did a recalibration of the point where things start seeming to be interesting.

Now I set an alarm on my phone to make sure I don’t miss the man across the square taking his dog for its early evening walkabout. I’ve invented a little game where I try to guess which houses the postman will visit and which ones he’ll miss. The postman usually wins the game; I suspect he has the answers written down somewhere.

Sometimes the parked cars might be in a more interesting configuration than normal, or the bin men may have left the emptied bins cluttering up the pavement more untidily than usual. The unpredictability of such events makes them all the more entertaining when they occur.

A fascinating cloud drifted by the other day, and here’s me complaining that nothing ever happens.

Har, honestly I don't know how you can keep up with all the excitement in your life.

Plus, fit work into it as well.

Hat off to you, sir tip hat
It's quite simple, molly: Commitment. tip hat
You're saying that there is nothing going on?
Well..I've got news for you Herbie...
There is NEVER NOTHING going on!scold

Even in those most boring moments there's too much going on for us to comprehend.dunno

In a "nothing happening" situation something which we should all be aware of...at any moment...your very existence is in peril! professor

Ps..this is an extract of one of my previous blogs.
How I envy you the cows and sweetcorn, emmy. Of course, I can always log on here if I want to observe the other thing.
wine
I'll take a look through my previous blogs to see if I can find an appropriate response, daniela. thumbs up
Har, I believe that in the writing of this blog, you are showing your existential awareness of the somethingness in the nothingness.
Good idea Herbie!
At least it will keep you occupied for a while...While watching the postman's activities.wink laugh
Well I had to do something about the nothingness, molly, it was driving me crackers. uh oh
Cows are scary help

Sweet corn less so laugh
rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing I meant lock
No I leave that to the cows.
I too am a window watcher.my kitchen window looks out of the gazebo.mainly i see the ladies gathering there and gossiping.or walking their dogs.
Alas, Bluesky, there are no gossiping ladies in my vista, only the solitary postman. sigh
Molly I thought you were going to suggest me peering on the door. But I do put human pee round the chicken run to keep away the foxes.
Har, I've a few neighbours who chat for hours at a time. I can lend you those if you wish.
They're quite nice too.
If they could be persuaded to chat under my window, molly, it could give me some good blog material. thumbs up
Sounds like you are adjusting nicely to old age harbal.
I'd say they'd chat anywhere you placed them, Har

I have often waved to them when I was going out. I'd arrive back a couple of hours later and they'd be still in exactly the same position. .
It might sound like it, Miguel, but inside I am quietly raging against the dying of the light.
I'm a bit reluctant to sound in favour of women who stay where they are put, molly, it could make me a target for the PC brigade. uh oh
Har, if it is their choice , you cannot be held responsible.
Okay, molly, send me a couple for now and we'll see how it goes. If it works out, I'll put in a bulk order.
Har, I'm not a wholesaler.
Harbal is there a color code for cars in your neighborhood?
Well the cars in my neighbourhood are variously coloured, Miguel, but I'm not aware of that being because of any kind of coding system. confused
So how many could you get for me, molly?
I can get you 3, Har.
Plus 1 dog. She's part of the package.
But you'd better put in your order early to ensure delivery before the end of the month,
you could always liven things up harb...if you have a cop friend have him come and pretend to arrest you then watch the neighborhood suddenly come alive......giggle
I think it might be against the law to impersonate a criminal, M4. hmmm
Hello Harbal wave I live by myself, in a rather quiet neighborhood (too quiet at times), and wouldn t have it any other way. When I go out shopping, or what ever, with its hustle, and bustle of a fast paced world, I can t wait to return to that quiet neighborhood.
It took a while, but once I got to know afew of the neighbors, we now have a group that checks on each other ,to see if things are okay. Every so often, I ll cut one of the elderly neighbors lawns, and every so often, someone will be walking in the door with fresh baking. A person has to remember to have good neighbors, you have to be a good neighbor..
Hello, 1to1to1. Although this is a quiet neighbourhood, it isn't like yours in any other respect. The only person I know here is the man who lives in the flat above mine, and we don't even like each other.
I live at the end of a dead end road, and i love not seeing or hearing anybody
It's not that I like seeing or hearing people, marlin, it's just that when I look out and hardly ever see anyone, it just seems wrong, somehow. It has the feel of a ghost town, even though all the houses are occupied. uh oh
Har, it looks like a typical modern estate where everybody works during the day and then shuts the door to the outside world when they arrive home.
In lots of ways, the older council estates and terraces were better as there was lot more of a community spirit there. Yes they would know your business, but they'd also be there to have a chat to in the evenings.
Hi Harbal, a very nice pic of the view out your window, I have not been to my home since November 26 since becoming ill. I stay with my mother on weekends and live in Tallahassee during the week for my treatments. I finished my 6 chemotherapy and and now have 1 more week of Radiation which will be done next week. I will be going home next weekend, I said all this to say I will be very happy just to be able to look out my window.

cheers my friend.
I hope you are sticking to your promise to us to get yourself well again, wen. I agree, when all's said and done, there's no place like home. hug

cheers
Harbal, I had a CT scan a couple of weeks ago, the Doctor said everything is looking good and the cancer is shrinking. thumbs up

Still a long haul to do, don't know when yet but will starting immunotherapy every 2 weeks for a year. Doing my best to keep promise

cheers and thanks for your concern my friend.
You'd better keep the promise, wen, but then I know you are a man of your word. handshake
Wen I'm so glad your getting there teddybear
@ Emmy wave thumbs up . thank you

hug
