Store Angel

I wrecked my car this week and now it's at the collision shop. They're determining whether it's totaled or not.

I was waiting a long time on a ride today and there was this red-faced homeless woman sitting outside the store with two bags, so I started talking to her. I told her my name.

She had a really sad, tragic story which made me very humbled and grateful for what I had. At one point she wanted to go inside and cash in a Lotto ticket. I told her I'd watch her bags.

As I stood there with my cart full of stuff I stared at those bags and tried to imagine what it would be like to have all your belongings just in those two bags. She was gone for awhile and I wondered if she was coming back.

She came back and as the manager ran her off, I asked her what her name was.

"Cindy Lou," she said.

"My sister's name is Cindy and her nickname is Cindy Lou!" I exclaimed.

"Well my real name is Cindy Lou," she said.

I told her I would pray for her.

Then she was off with her stuff, headed down the street.

I prayed for her.

I tend to always feel sorry for myself when I lose my car which has happened many times but there this lady was, another reminder of how lucky I really am.

She was lucky that you didn't offer her a lift

It is very touchy story as sometimes in our life and we need to be grateful what we have. Talking about homeless encountered perhaps mine is not like yours. I was just a college student and ran into this homeless man in a strange city and he asked me to bring him home. I surely would not in a position to do such thing as I was just giving him few dollars that I had and he asked of me. Few days ago, I had interviewed with our future program for a group of bachelor. One of them told me that he took in a homeless man last summer. I was amazed and then recalled my own experiences. Just not long ago my Godparents drove me around tan city and they told me that those homeless people live in there. I had seen many things through TV, movies, meeting a real one even talking to them. Hardly doing that now. We all have compassion for others just how we expressed and perhaps experienced them differently. A snow storm is on the way our city so I hope these homeless people have a place to go to and wish them good luck after storm passing.

Ok, I just have to be real… I’m a bit of a shut-in. Don’t get me wrong, I like going out for drinks and having fun but I find more peace and have more fun just kicking back. I love the beach, watching football, movies, spontaneous trips, and learning [read more]
