Blog Rules...
I came to CS in June 2018 and (like all newbies) read the rules for blogs and followed them.Every time we post blogs here the rules listed by the administration of Connecting Singles.
Since they are on the bottom, it's easy to ignore them.
Today my name came up in a blog that I feel categorized me incorrectly.
I did follow the rules here...
For example:
Rule 2: Treat others the way you would like to be treated – with respect - be polite, considerate, with no personal attacks, name calling, harassment, bad language.
I had to delete one comment this week and warn the member when a second more offensive than the first came through.
Rule 5: No 'broadcast' messages such as "Hi to everyone", "goodnight all", "I'm bored", etc. These are statements, not topics. Clearly state your topic, then stick to the stated topic.
Everyday I see blogs like this. Everyday...
Rule 6: Do not direct questions to viewers. Use the Forums for this.
Geeze, 80% of the blogs here ask questions.
So... I post blogs on a variety of topics and get 'shot down' for doing so, but... the majority of popular blogs are the 'I'm bored', Hey... do you park in or out?, LOL
Yes, you guy's are great and I want to be exactly like you... really I do.
With the exception of 2, my blogs have been open to comments, including the diary of the quagmire I created by purchasing a condo.
I didn't realize I had to respond to each and every blog comment and create a banter 'exactly' like the forums to be accepted here.
I'll try to do better in my next blog!

I have one blog. It's about this.
I've know Fay for years and she 'gets' my humor and opinions.
biff, from time-to-time I intentionally blog things that I believe are interesting to the other members here.
Possibly since I'm new, I get less response than someone who comes back from a 3 month hiatus and only announces 'Hi, I'm back!" where an hour later they have 35 comments.
If people like what I blog... great. If they dislike what I blog... great.
blue... have some Kombucha.

One of my clients has a trophy wife. Is that the same thing?
Chat,
In fact...I don't comment on many...depends when I'm online.
I know I asked many questions on my blogs. I know I should have posted them on forum threads instead of on blogs.
But the thing is, I mostly got bored of my own blogs so I erased them. And thaaat I can not do on forum.
Yes, I am guilty of breaking certain cs rules too.
For some reason I see ad hoc a lot. Maybe some people dont know better.
by not only asking a direct (stupid) question to the readers, but by being so blatant to even include it in the blog title. Trying to change the topic now is not covering up your guilt in the least.
Here's MY impression of posting in forums versus blogs, from a Windows 95 perspective (i.e. Late To The Party):
In the pre Windows universe, postings were accomplished in DOS. Memory was low, processing speed just as limited, and usernames limited to seven digits or so. (Remember, I'm speaking of pre-Windows, or BX--"Before Xquseme".) Hard drives were nonexistent, and amount of available memory was limited to the free space on your floppy disc--a paltry 1.4 MEGAbytes!! Consequently, messages were short, to the point, and somewhat curt. BBS's were the rule of the day (um, "Bulletin Board systems?? Remember, I'm post-Windows!). Transmitting images was unheard of, and the closest one could come was ASCII imagery--and at the time, THAT was awesome!
The Windows environment, as time went on, brought greater capability, remarkable storage space, (nearly) unlimited username lengths, jaw dropping processing speeds, well, you get the drift. One could then post images, sounds (imagine!) and eventually music and movies (Unheard of 25 years ago!) Suddenly blogs were possible, DOS code was unnecessary, and, indeed, windbaggery could be accomplished in a few minutes of key tapping and by hitting "Send".
IMHO, the difference between forums and blogs is simply the progression of computing capability, rather than strict rules that forbade the posting of questions, etc. In the few discussion groups I've participated in, such rules were extremely flexible, and Mods never seemed to appear until flagrant trollike activity became the rule, rather than the exception.
I do recall a time, though, when nettiquette, or good posting behavior, was the rule of the day. Sadly, that seems to be what is missing these days. Just sayin'.
Oh, yeah. One more thing:
Seems to me, in that last statement, all THREE of us spent time at that site. Again, just sayin'
Um, please excuse the diatribe. Rant over...
Didn't realize someone appointed you moderator either on that site or on this one.
PLEAAASE forgive my interruption!
