Eat first, then exercise _or_ exercise first then eat...

I'm sure there are dozens of websites posting facts about which one is correct... one way or another. As for me, I prefer the order of exercising first, eating second then relaxing (and possibly taking a nap) third.

Years ago I had a girlfriend who professed her knowledge of healthy living.
Okay... do your thing!

No, I just had a big meal and I don't want to 'walk if off'
Maybe exercise improves your digestion. For me it causes indigestion.
Exercise after a meal steals the energy my body uses to digest food.
I'll get back to you in 30 minutes or less.

Yeah, and I do have an example... a pack of lions chase down their prey, devour it and hang out swatting flies with their tails. It has always been thus...
They don't have internet to tell them otherwise.

Thanks for reading my blog!

I find it to be easier to have lite snacks after exercising.and plenty of fluid.
Breakfast for me is half a cup of oatmeal with skim milk & blueberries followed by protein shake.

I won't bore you but let's just say the fuel you consume in regard to protein & carbs is very very important.
I forgot to add that it's best to do your homework or seek a PT (personal trainer).

What I consume as well as my workouts at the gym is for me to be lean & toned so I consume fuel that feeds my muscles and because cardio smashes muscle mass I consume liquids that protect my muscle mass.

Depending on what your goal is you need to do your homework and seek answers from professionals as I've done..I'm lucky my son is a PT for fuel advice..Would love to have my son train me but we would fight and argue so I stick to working out at my own gym.
From an evolutionary standpoint I would think, that there was exercise in the effort to gain a meal,
whether it was hunting or gathering prior to eating. A good nap after a good meal seems to come natural too. sleep From an anatomical standpoint exercise seems more difficult with a full belly.
Lastly, the energy used to exercise comes more from previous meals, than the most recent.
Thus, it would appear that your indigestion is justifiable protestation against an unnatural order of events. head banger
Depends on what you want to achieve. My pt said six small meals a day, full of protein shakes and bars. wow I'm 71 grin and just want to stay agile, not enter gran muscle competition laugh laugh laugh
I personally don't care what 'studies' say - I feel better when I exercise before eating. I get up early in the morning and go for a 9 mile bike ride around the perimeter of my town, come home, have a hot beverage, THEN have something to eat. For the occasional times when I'm out longer than expected, I take along a bottle of water and a packet of trail mix for the occasions I feel light-headed.

For the most part, though, I feel a lot better and more motivated than if I eat something first. I guess the bottom line is, people will exercise when it fits with their schedule and what feels the best for them. grin
I exercise, shower, eat, sleep.

That works very good for me. banana
My case?
