Funny Little Dog

Bella is under 3 pounds, very tiny and passive. She tolerates or just doesn't acknowledge other dogs, cats or people.

However she does not tolerate the vacuum cleaner. She cracks me up every time I vacuum, she leaps out of her old age and tries to bite the vacuum. She never bites anything but the damn vacuum.

My funny little fur baby.

Is that Bella with you in the profile pic?
You're both adorable.

Yes that is Bella and thank you. She is truely adorable. Me? I'm just lovable.
In my minds eye, I see this...

There is a picture of Bella in my profile pic. In your mind's eye you are seeing a puppy, Bella is a bit bigger than that puppy but she is full grown and still as adorable as any puppy.
Lovely puppy, but unfayzed your dog might just hate the noise grin teddybear
Dogs have a very keen sense of hearing, many times more sensitive than humans.
Perhaps she finds the noise of the vacuum cleaner as extremely annoying, or even hurtful
to her hearing.
Tess (my favorite Chihuahua) does not like certain noises at all! Any gas leaf-blowers or weed-wackers she immediately starts barking at without even knowing which direction the noise is coming from. Same with the trash trucks. She jumps when my "Chuck's" squeak on the tile floor. But she barely raises a furry brow when I walk her and a low jet flys over on it's way to Burbank.
dunno
I don't know if it is the noise or not? I use dust busters all the time several times a day and she ignores them but the vacuum is her arch enemy. I used to have a white Shepard that did the same with lawn mowers and chain saws. We would have to restrain him if we needed to use our chain saw.
You don't know if it is the noise or not ?

Is there a difference in dog behavior between when the device is turned on or turned off ?
I wish mine would attack the vacuum... sigh

It'd be a great excuse laugh
Through your ears. But a dog may perceive it differently.
pfffft Jim.....I hate when you are right tongue
laugh You're not alone.
Yep, U. I take Bravo, all of his 100+ pounds, with me into Banks, municipal offices, some shops, and other dog friendly places. Workers all know him and he loves getting their treats. He has learned the term "vacuum cleaner", and when I say it, he begins to growl and to scratch at the floor furiously, cracking up all the humans nearby. At home, he lets me vacuum, but keeps an alert and highly critical eye on the whole business. When finished, I say, "Bravo, get the VC", and he attacks the floor unit, with frighteningly wolf like growls and howls. Dogs.
And as to noise of the VC, Bravo lets me bring it into the house from the back mud room/porch. But he watches it's every move. When turned on, he puts his ears back, but will obey and remain away, watching, till I finish. So the noise may not be his main vexation.
Now that I have two dogs, a big 14 pounder and a tiny 3 pounder, oh wait even if you put them both together they don't way enough to be a REAL dog.

I thought I could get me a big dog when I retired but this community I live in won't allow it.

I need to get off this fricking grid.
