In Tribute and Thanks

A very special tribute and sincere thanks for all those,
who have risked it all, and especially those who sacrificed it all,
in the call to duty in defense of my/their nation.

While I am only in favor of war as a last resort,
you, sir or madam, have helped preserve freedom and the life we enjoy. thumbs up
Your service has not been forgotten, nor discounted, nor unappreciated at all.

Thank you.

Nice/thoughtful blog Jim sad flower

But I'd rather have my son/husband/brother with me more so then a hero ....

I can totally understand that sentiment IW.
As I said above, in my opinion war should only be used as a last resort.
Initially diplomacy should be exhausted first and then more targeted endeavors should be tried next. However, sometimes war is necessary. Even when there is war, we much prefer the combatants survive, especially on our side.

I never celebrate Thanksgiving......and for sure the Native Americans don't do it either.....as it is nothing else, than a shame, what has been done to the original people of America.very mad
im native and I celebrate it...im not missing out on my turkey for anybody.......doh
M4,

I'm not Native American, but I could never do something, that remind about the horrible wrong doing in the past.....sorry, but as you are Native, I can not understand your opinion doh
you don't have to......wave

just because you have an opinion about something doesn't make it true....a lot of natives celebrate this day as a day of giving thanks....they don't have to be reminded of the past....wine
My Chinese forefathers were prosecuted in China.

We the descendants, don’t forget but we have moved on. We strive to be better than to be bitter. Just look at the Chinese around the world grin

M4 applause hug bouquet
I agree mimi...deal with the things that need to be addressed now and leave the past where it is.....bouquet
Unfortunately, there is little that can be done about things that happened over 100 years ago. All we can do, is to learn not to repeat mistakes. But, more relevant to this particular blog, there is nothing wrong with giving thanks for the bounty one receives, or for family. That is how many celebrate Thanksgiving in this day & age. I do. My guess, is that very few, if any, people celebrate slaughtering Native Americans. I certainly don't. I believe it was mostly unjust and inhumane treatment of the people who rightly occupied the land in a migratory method.
There should have been a lot more respect for that lifestyle. If only we could go back in time and try to better resolve differences. Unfortunately, there isn't that option and this blog was truly not the place for anger about it.

There is another blog focused on anger. Perhaps such displays might be better applied there. dunno
I believe the price people paid who died in the military, defending our country, will aways be honored!thumbs up
The past is the past and this is where it shall remain for me. I never was aware of what took place for my Native American Ancestry and so I will travel on to life.
Bearwoman,
I have seen your comments in the past, where you showed, that you very well remember, wrong things that happened......and you got my respect for that......but now you tell something elseconfused
Jim,
your last comment cet some respect from me.....still, a lot of First Nation people keep Thanksgiving as a symbol for the settlers massacre.....as it is known, that some settlers survived one winter only because the Indians gave them of their own food and later they massacred these same Indians.

Also, it was not over 100 years ago......if you can be honest and if you know anything about the Human mind.....it is all than easy to forget, when you can not be respected as a Indian.
I am certainly against injustice, both past & present.
However, I feel anger about past injustice on a blog
merely giving thanks for DEFENSE of one's nation
is misplaced. If you feel motivated to ensure that
injustice is not currently done, please make your
stance at the place where it can do the most good.
Jim,
you don't get that easy out......your blog is clearly about Thanksgiving tooscold
Last I checked, Thanksgiving is near the end of November.
What day is tomorrow ? dunno
One can give thanks for a lot of reasons and a lot of days, not just on Thanksgiving.
My comment is to honor our military who paid for our freedom with their lives! Memorial Day is to honor our fallen military heroes!
thumbs up
Gentle,
the Memorial day is something different and it get all my respect too.....and it is not only about your freedom......many other countries in the World and specially European countries, got the help in the most bad time from USA....and it supported also many countries freedom......so it should never be forgotten.
Bekard I only wrote what other's had written within other peoples statements which weren't my own words.Nothing more /nothing less then what I had read on other websites etc.

I obviously wasn't born during when things happened to my ancestry.Sorry for the confusion.
Be - I'm still not sure which part of my first comment, which was a response to IW,
that you object to. dunno
