Percy Turner

There’s a little butcher’s shop down a narrow street in the South Yorkshire village of Jump. You could drive past that little shop and never even notice it, except on a Tuesday* and Saturday when the customers are queuing right out onto the pavement. These are the days when the locally renowned butcher, Percy Turner, makes his much sought after, to die for pork pies.

This is the beginning of my campaign to turn South Yorkshire into a major tourist destination, EX.
doh I have allergy to meat so unless he does a veggie pie blues
He would be lynched if he produced a "veggie" pie, EX, and quite right, too. mumbling
Nope I dont eat veggie pies either just cant eat meat, now chicken peace
Where is the nearest international airport to Percy's? writing

Not that I like meat pies or anything, but you sell South Yorkshire soooo well

There's a large market for pork pies here, they have to be smuggled in hand luggage on Easyjet, but how are we supposed to organise a smuggling trip when you're not even sure which days they're available doh
I'll see if I can organise a large consignment for you, Z, before the EU slaps a tariff on them. grin
Rather than widen the street, ensure that the shops lining the narrow street on which there is a long queue have outdoor stalls so people can browse and purchase as they await their turn.
It looks like I will have to go over to Jump to manage their tourism strategy.
Harbal,
I have been asked by someone that has seen the pie pic above if the butcher shop you speak of has an email address you might know of or an email for perhaps the baker or creator of those pies?

I know its a long shot but who knows.
The recipe of those pies are sought.laugh
The opportunities for browsing whilst queueing are, to say the least, very limited, molly. There is a hairdresser's where you might, if you are lucky, coincide with a pensioner having a blue rinse, or the more trendy ones having a vivid, bright blue rinse. Next comes the fish and chip shop, which has limited opening hours. The shop after that looks unoccupied.

I would love to show you round Jump, molly, it would only take five minutes. Although a five minute Jump doesn't sound very enticing, I must admit.
I don't think Percy Turner has an online presence, Lukeon. There might be a Facebook page, set up by his devotees.
Hello Harbal wave That little butcher shop is a treasure, wow Sure wish I one up the street,
I don't think Percy Turner has a Canadian branch envisaged in his business plan, 1to1, but who knows what the future may hold?
Thanksthumbs up
Looks fresh and delicious Harbal. Did you try one?

I am allergic to pork. But I eat pork and suffer a bit than not eat it. laugh

I am craving pork now.
I haven't had one for a long time, usha, but in my last job someone used to bring them into work once a week. And yes, they are indeed delicious.
have never had a pork pie but I must say they look ravishing.
They are ravishing, Merc, but you wouldn't want to eat too many if you are trying to maintain a healthy diet.
Parcel some up for Trump Harbal grin a good British gesture grin
Are you sure that photo isn´t the dole office in Liverpool?
He would never leave once he had tasted one of those pies, EX, I'd rather he didn't know about them. uh oh
It could be, couldn't it, Bn? laugh
You could be right Harbal it's a shame I couldn't have a nibble blushing of the pies they look delish laugh
