Brilliant and yes last we forget and all that. Her majesty was even in land army.

Did you see some old vets maybe for first time , when media got a hold of them they knew right questions to ask very mad the men telling how their young comrades fell, after all these years the scene came before them and they cried.

I felt a bit mad at media, I think they should salute these men, they were children when they went to war, and in my book for sensationalism they made old men cry

Thanks for vid stringman I watched this one.

tip hat Well done, Mr. detective

My brother bobby would have been over there celebrating the anniversary but he passed away in 2010. He was one of the paratroopers who jumped behind enemy lines prior to the D Day landing. He joined the Army on Dec 8 1941 a day after Pearl Harbor was attacked. Ha said the line to join up went around the block.

You could have mentioned why the soviets acted as they did, you mentioned retaliation by the allies, soviets had the same reason . STALINGRAD.. Nearly 20million Russian died there and when it was all over less than 10,000 were still alive.
As I pointed out in my first comment I don't take sides I just give Facts..
I've been in a war zone and know that nothing is really like we are told, both sides always commit attrocities.
As you said also the german troops were mostly unaware of why they were fighting and just trying to stay alive, exactly the same as our troops on D-Day
