We've been trying to reach you...
A few times a day I receive (robotic) phone solicitation calls to my cellphone offering me discounted healthcare programs and the recording starts with "We've been trying to reach you..." along with that is their takeaway "This is our last attempt to offer this discount..."If that were true, I wouldn't receive so many calls.
I stopped using a land line years ago and switched to VOIP service provided by Vonage. It was my backup to a cellphone and served as a FAX line. I haven't used it in months and decided the $30 fee could be used elsewhere.
Since I'm a T-Mobile customer, I decided to switch to their VOIP service for $10 and now that I'm at a location 45 miles North, I selected a new phone number in the local exchange.
The device with new number has been installed for a little more than a week and the first message on the voicemail system is:
"We've been trying to reach you..."

Mine say "your car warranty will expire soon and i should renew."
I don't even have a car.
"Don't hang up !" You can guess my immediate response after hearing it several time before.
My calls like that started right after I visited a dealership for service.
kornbluth, if I'm rude they immediately hang up.
If I pretend to be genuinely interested, I can keep their attention much longer explaining their plan.
JimNastics, the 'don't hang up' as something they have to sell is important. I've heard that too!
Bearwoman, it's a job for them.
The best one I experienced was the guy who guaranteed he could lower my mortgage interest rate. I wanted his valuable expertise of lowering an interest rate when I didn't have a mortgage.
Good. I hang up first. If they begin to hear the very same rudeness every day, it may be easier for them simply to remove your number. You do notice that many of these calls are identical?
"If I pretend to be genuinely interested, I can keep their attention much longer explaining their plan."
If I did that, then they would be keeping my attention equally. Life is too short.
Don't bother, the check is in the mail ( he,he)
