The Danish Dream!

You hear lots of things about the American Dream, which is coming from nothing to have everything you could ever want: A house, kids, a loving wife, a well-paying job and a vehicle of some sort. Many people come from abroad to take part in that dream, and some want to start working on that dream - myself included.

I need a visa in order to start working on that dream, but it's expensive to get one. I read somewhere, that it'll cost me $5000 just to get the process started, which is money that I don't have - yet. So I am going to start looking at achieving the Danish dream. I am not sure if it is something that exists, though. Maybe I'll just form it in my head.

Anyway, the start of my Danish dream, is to get myself a well-paying job. I have certain skills, that will net me a great job, but I never have the chance to prove myself, due to the fact, that companies reject my application. Once I do get that perfect job, I am gonna start saving up for the deposit on a house or an apartment. I found one close to me, selling at $250.459. It's a 2-bedroom apartment, which measures 559 square feet. Not the biggest place, but it's perfect for me. The view is amazing from there, which is one of the reasons why it's a bit pricey. It's close to everything, so it would definitely be a suitable place for me. If I somehow find a woman to spend my life with, she can move in as well. If kids are on the table, well then we'll have to move into something bigger. I am spitballing here, but the plan is definitely forming in my head.

When I have secured that perfect place, I will look into getting my drivers license, and a small car. Cars here are VERY expensive, as is fuel. In Denmark, the current price, for 1 US gallon of fuel, is $7. Regarding the cars.. Let's take a car that is available in the US as well as Denmark: The Ford Mustang. Let's take the 2019 Bullit version. It's available in both countries, with the same spec. In the US, the price of a 2019 Ford Mustang Bullit Edition is $47.690. The same car, with exactly the same spec, is $120.945 here. That is a price difference of $73.255. That amount alone is the import tax we have here.

Once I have paid TWICE(ish) for that lovely pony car, I think I will have made it. I own my own home, bought my own car and have a loving wife. What else could you want? Well, a holiday home somewhere wouldn't hurt, but apart from that. My life would be so much better, if I had those things mentioned above.

I am not saying that money makes you happy, because they don't. I am just saying, that living a life with no worry about saving money somewhere, is a life I would love to live at one point.

That, for me, is the Danish dream - and it sounds amazing!

You are so right as pursuing your dreams, goals and whatever thoughts make you feel that happiness will be accomplished.
The truth about life is not having material things, which are necessary to survive. Being happy with what you can have at the moment. Past generations had less than what we have now but their lives were centered and focused at their needs and not comparing what other countries have.
As history progresses, things change. I suppose your country is beautiful to live in and does not have to envy any other.
My country is full of immigrants, pursuing the American dream. Many make it, others don't. Wealth can't be compared to be living in a country when all participate in the well being of each other. It's your choice. Like many places in the world, the USA is the starting point for many. We are not perfect. Our founding Fathers did a lot to pursue happiness and many of us have achieved it here thanks to their sacrifice.
Good luck with your Danish dream my friend!
