Done with the volunteering. Time to look forward to other things!

I had to end my volunteer bit prematurely, since they somehow had to let me go, due to some things I did during the night shift. Apparently, I let too many people on foot walk through. To put it into context: The gate I was working at, was Gate 3. That gate is reserved for cars, trucks, buses and bikes, and not people on foot. They will have to go Gate 3A, which is located 20 meters away from Gate 3. Unfortunately, some people don't respect that, so I have to turn away the people, and force them to go to 3A. It is impossible to get everyone to do that, so I had let around 50 people through Gate 3. 50 people in 8 hours. Apparently, that wasn't good enough for the leader of the group I was volunteering at, so they called me, and told me that I wouldn't be let in to the site today to work. That resulted in me going home to calm down, because I was so annoyed and disappointed, that I would have said something I would regret.

This is the second time that a festival has treated me like someone who has committed an unspeakable crime, so it is time to make a decision: Do I skip next years festivals, or do I just simply stop volunteering at festivals? I think the answer is clear: Stop volunteering at festivals in general. I will not put up with being treated that way.

So now I am just relaxing, with some music. It's past midnight here, so I am thinking about going to bed. I know, it's early to go to bed on a Saturday, but I am absolutely shattered. These past few days of volunteering has put my energy levels to an all time low. The night shift alone was murder. When I got home, I just laid on my bed and fell asleep, fully dressed.

I think I just need a few days to recover. To eat some good food and just relax in general. Not spending any money at all.

Yeah relax dude, no skin off your back, you were there in good faith, they didn’t like the service, well... fine... you can still volunteer just remember, not all managers are created equal..... you sound like yo7 we’re trying, good Enough I say, peace.
Philipsen' see, here is the thing, most people who volunteer at things (here in the US) are charitable things where they either help out at the food bank, homeless shelter, church bazzar(and then the money earned there is supposed to go toward helping these least in our society who cannot help themselves!) I just wanted to bring that up,in case you were not aware of it, therefore when you refer to "'volunteering" that is the concept most of us here have, I am not aware of volunteering at sports events so...….. ? You seem to be the type of individual that has a very thin skin and perhaps the occurance of rain would make you sob uncontrollably?yawn crying crying crying doh barf angel
athought4u - Here you can volunteer for various events, such as festivals, car racing, shelters for the homeless, foodbanks and any other event that requires volunteers.

Regarding me being thin skinned - I am not. Rain don't really bother me at all. After living 2 and a half years in Scotland, I have learned to make rain my friend. The night shift at the festival I just finished, was very wet. My shoes were soaked, as was my clothes. I never once complained or wanted to throw in the towel. I love the rain, and I really wish we had more of it here :)
I think athought4u was talking about rain figuratively but having said that, I think its commendable that you volunteer. If it brings something positive into your life, keep doing it.
