Rain on me !
Tonight I am supposed to play softball at the furthest park I play at.However, it is next to the last game of the regular season for that league.
It ends on Wednesday.
My team clinched first place long ago. We are 6 games up with 2 to play.
I saw in the hourly weather.com forecast, that it is suppose to start raining
sometime between 6 & 7 pm (game starts at 6:30 pm).
So, I told my coach that I am not making it down there tonight, as it makes
no difference whatsoever for the seeding for the playoffs and I'm not traveling
a large distance to play about 1 inning of softball.
Good call by me, as it is now 6:25 pm and it is pouring !
About 15 minutes ago, I took a walk to a small local park
and 1/2 way there, raindrops started "falling on my head..."
I decided to turn back home and it started raining a little heavier.
Rather than go inside I stood on the sidewalk in front of my house
and just let it rain on me. With temperatures in the upper 90's for the last
3 days, the cool rain felt refreshing, like a dive into a crystal clear pool.
My good neighbor across the street came running out to put his garbage can
out for collection tomorrow morning. I watched. He didn't even notice me standing
there. However, as he turned to run back inside, he noticed me and asked,
"what are you doing ?".
My reply - "soaking it all in." His response. You know what. It does feel good."
After a minute we both turned and walked into our respective houses.

That storm system produced loud lightning strikes that shook the ground and strong winds toppling trees nearby. It's been hot between unusual stormy bouts this summer, although the last couple days have been better with cooler nights after the storms continued east..
It was way too hot for several days in a row, highs of at least 98 F.
It is very pleasant now.
B - On Monday night I heard from a couple of teammates, that several trees
and a lot of large branches fell very near the ball field within a couple of minutes
of when the storm arrived, which happened 15 minutes before game start time.
One teammate told me that the wind was blowing so fiercely,
that he found it difficult to open his car door to get back inside the car, and on his drive
home, several downed trees took out power lines.
Thankfully, where I live, it did not hit us as hard.
It rains so hard here that it hurts if you stand in it.
Those mid-afternoon rains were the only thing to cool things off.
It lasted briefly though and then the humidity hit highs.
That was the last time I was in Florida in the summer.
I hope it is not as bad where you are Fay. I suspect it might be at least somewhat better,
as you are several hundred miles north of south FL.
Here we could do with some rain!
We've been going through a heatwave in the 40+ C..
With Saharan winds.
There was another party in the same hall in a different large room.
I saw it on the way to the men's room. I told the hosts of the party that I was at,
that "the party down the hall looks like a morgue, compared to your party". For real !
40 C. and above is too hot ! Much hotter than I like it. I do hope it cools down soon for you.
