Private number

I do not know why the telephone company in my country has a private number service. Private number means when a call is made it does not leave a number on the phone screen or recents or any where else.

So you can keep your phone number private when you call someone who you don't want to have access to your phone number.

Most phone networks have this feature.

In the United States, on most networks, you can activate this feature on a per call basis. In other words, you can press a code before each call to hide your number or press another code before the call to show your number. (or set the default to hide and press a code to make it visible)
Keep in mind though it is not completely private. Some places that receive the call can see your phone number even if it is "hidden."
Thank you Barry
How about we test it out? If you call me I will tell you if it is really private.
Might be someone going threw everyone ‘s calls
Basically NOTHING is private anymore if it is captured electronically and not properly encrypted and/or protected from access by someone else. And the efficacy of both of those safeguards is being eroded every day. The future does not bode well for privacy in the 21st century.
Hi Moelle,
Did you tell your phone to use that service? There is a setting to do this. On my android phone, it is under
Settings - Call Settings - Additional Settings - Caller ID - Hide Number
Try it.

Barry you could buy a SpoofCard: Spoof Calls & Change Your Caller ID for calling. In the USA star 67 would be the code *67. In the setting hide caller ID Why not Skype to place calls. I have used google numbers many time with a SKYPE ACCT. Just for that purpose.
Barry, I think you missed something. I'm pretty sure the surveys and political caller who are exempt from Do-Not-Call use those lists for picking whom to call. No reason the illegal ones shouldn't.
Congress is so corrupted from lobbies and interest groups. I can prove Moscow Mitch makes the Republicans spend at least 25 % week calling lobbyists or wealthy donors and begging for money for their party.

We are getting some improvement now since its an election year on the way.
