Too Much / Too Little - Water

The glaciers are melting, but there are droughts everywhere.

What are we going to drink:
Salt water, which is very expensive to create drinking water out of...

If you consider that we need water to live:
Is money that important?

Any Ideas...?

Tell me again how much higher the water is in New York harbor.

I assume you are aware that while ice is melting on the shores of Antarctica; but unaware that the interior snow mass has increased due to snow fall more than what is being lost at the edge.

Weather patterns have changed and that always affects drinking water. We do things about it. For instance, Los Angeles ought to be a desert.
Yup, the water crisis is just pure madnees, whilst most parts of the world have too much water other parts are having drouts, why don't they just pipeline it to the parts that need it?
Spec...
I have some friends in the US, but am not in the know as to the snow fall having increased, I guess that will up the ground water when melting.

We hardly ever get snow, but it rains, I would say less than before, and some areas in South Africa have been having droughts.

The rising of the waters due to the ice melting, has been known for quite some time now, like Florida houses on the seaside being flooded, and it will continue upwards with more houses, and other towns by the seaside too...
Hi 13...
For a pipeline that long to be built, will take forever. I don't think it will be completed in time and what about under the sea, something else is required...
In other parts of the world they just dig below the surface and before they reach bedrock there are tons of water. It never fails.
Hi LF,
Never heard of that:
Where is it?
Butch...
Clean up polluted rivers, makes a lot of sense...

But they still have spite...
Strange,
How very little people can make the first move,
Why do they require someone to follow?
Backbone?
4Ever, cleaning up the water ways is one thing but it has to be done from the ground up... if the ground can't support life like plants its a waste land, plants can probably clean 30 to 40% of water but its chemicals that are hardest to get out of water..
I have done my part and have planted over 50 plants in the last 2 weeks, most of them vegetables but its something... there could be a water problem here over the summer its pretty dry already, but we have been blessed with a lot of cloud cover over the last few summers..
FAE3- The solution in part is conservation As with food, an enormous amount of water gets wasted daily. Also, reusing different categories of so called waste water. And then we'll have to desalinate sea water, in places where applicable, using renewable (solar, tide) energy. The solutions for too MUCH water might be more challenging. Of course, starting with prevention, we must work on possibly reversing increasing ocean temperatures, whatever the causes. Many coastal low lying populations will be relocating to higher ground. Barriers may help in a few places. And central to all such work in a decrease in the growth of human populations. Lots more, but this might do for starters. But try not to be too affraid of these changes. We'll do it.
Butch...
You have a level head on Your Shoulders...
I have just planted:
8 Fruit trees
Add plants to the beds.

I love plants and nature, and kids.

Why don't people look Not Down their noses, but participate, to counteract global warming...

Just an attitude change will be a tremendous help...
Vier Kase Hoog…
"using renewable (solar, tide) energy"

Is being implemented across the world,
But will it be enough,
as nothing has been to date...
Gotta start somewhere.
The average persons need to be educated on how to clean up water rather than to hand it over to govt depatments, if the average person has got sick from their drinking water then they would be more passionate about cleaning up their water..
Govt departments have to much red tape to get through that bolws the cost way out, educating the average person to go out there and do it themselves is giving some power back to the average person... Govt want the people to rely on them so the govt can call the shot and make the decisions..
It's true areas will and do also experience drought seasons but they generally aren't permanent. Yes, they can last extended periods of time.

It's not just snow fall. In January, reports were pushed that the great lake levels would continue to drop.

Since man doesn't and can't control nature; this is what the standings seem to be more closely too now. During fall, when things are cooler and more dry, it's peek evaporation time.

Reports indicate the ocean levels have been rising for 20,000 years.

They get polar differentials going on all of the time it seems. Can't trust too many scientists when it come to climate. It changes all of the time no matter what and has been since the creation of the planet.

Butch,
To a certain extent most people, make sure that they have clean water and food (grown on the ground) or animals eating the plants.
With either, you will land up in hospital, and they will require implements to clean the water and the ground, which does not come for free, thus you are losing all the way...
My friend here, has always had a water purifier. Step that up to a special model, and you have healthy water. The implements are there already, just not advanced enough yet, and very expensive. What does the poor people do?
Dragon,
Apparently there are research into controlling the weather...
Can you confirm this?
4Ever..
Airation of water is part of the way to cleaning water and this can be done by creating rapids with rock walls in the rivers, this doesn't clean water up properly but its part of the way to cleaning it... rocks are free in most places so its a start for poor people..
Airate the water then from there run it through a marsh of plants then back into an airation system, the water probabaly won't be safe to drink but it will be cleaner than when it first goes through..
