upgrade from 1800psi to 2000psi...

A few weeks ago I documented one of my remodeling projects of pressure cleaning the sidewalk. That was the easy stuff. Yesterday, we were up on the roof! Literally, it was planned earlier abut other obligations got in the way.

The pressure washer was a 10 year old electric 'off brand' with 1800psi. I own a 3500psi gasoline engine model but it's got some carburetor trouble that I'm unable to resolve... and it's too large to bring on the roof.

We borrowed a small electric 1700 unit and were 'double teaming' the project but the 1800 was shutting down with a burning smell. I went to Home Depot and picked up a 2000psi unit as my goal was to finish the roof on Saturday. It was nice that my daughter stopped to show me her research on house prices in the neighborhood, but that put us behind schedule. It was dark but we got most of the barrel tile part finished.

The roof was last washed about 4 years ago and the pressure washing with only water (no soap or chemical cleaners) brought it back to it's original color.

Smart telling her to get on the roof. I don't know how much you weigh but I tend to snap them.

Hey Chat if you ever get a chance, try one of those nozzles that rotate as you pull the trigger if you haven't already. I'd estimated gives you about 50% more power. Especially good if you need to take old paint off of any surface. That's all I use now.
Loh, that rotating nozzle is standard with Ryobi washers.
I have a 40 degree nozzle I prefer and compared to the other, it's about the same coverage.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ laugh
I sure would like to get my hands on that 2000psi baby and open her right up. See what she can do. smoking
The electric worked fine for my purposes too.

My parents sold their house after a fairly intensive remodel. One of the finishing touches was washing the siding. The north side had a good bit of unsightly moss. An upper range electric was more than enough for siding and even enough for the concrete.

I selected it specifically to avoid the maintenance issues and noise of a gas unit.

It won't see much more heavy use, but I'll pick up a foam cannon and keep it around for convenient car washing.

I also went with the water only solution.

I've had enough industrial exposures, I don't breath anything I don't have to.
2000 psi is basically like a Ford fiesta Harb. It'll get you where you're going but that's about it. Got to get up in the 3's for real real performance.laugh
marranjo I suggest a new keyboard as you've got a sticky key.
