VIP movement in this area...
I spent the holiday weekend in Miami (pressure cleaning, patching and painting) with three sessions of model helicopter practice in the local school yard. No rules and no one to bother me.Arriving home Sunday evening and checking email I see the government issued a few flight restrictions this past week in the airspace over Fort Lauderdale and others in Palm Beach County.
It goes without saying the VIP was president Trump in town. His public online calendar showed he was away Thursday (surprise visit to the troops in Afghanistan) and back to Mar-a-Lago on Friday and stayed through Sunday afternoon.
During that time, all outdoor model aircraft are banned from flight within 30 nautical miles of "Area A" as outlined on an attached map. Although his calendar showed he left Palm Beach Airport at 4:20pm (still daylight) but the ban is in effect until midnight.
Now that Trump claims Mar-a-Lago as his primary residence, the model aircraft pilots at the county sponsored airfield in Palm Beach will be shut down more often.
Good thing there's another park in West Fort Lauderdale on the edge of the Everglades that's outside the no flight zone restrictions.
