Buckingham Palace Responds To Meghan & Harry Canada Move Rumours

hmmm Do You have a say on this?

In my own opinion Harry & Meghan don't need the other Royals to be popular, the move from the UK to anywhere in the world would be a blessing for them. ???????

I thought their marrage was on the rocks already, i agree that a move out of the UK will always be a good move as long as they don't end up in the bright media lights of the US..
Hey Butcherwave
Still intact I guess
I believe it was their decision to branch out and be more independent,
Hope it won't be
wine
The media will make anything worse so I will see until we have official word from Palace.

Men will always follow wives wishes in the main.

I cannot imagine Harry not letting Queen know what was on his mind. or her mind roll eyes
Indeed EX wave
For some strange reason , I trust her royal highness ,The QUEEN ELIZABETH , Its something unusual going on behind palace walls, confused sigh
It's not about being popular, it's about The Firm.

This was never going to fly, an heir to the throne marrying a B grade American actress conversing

Many people probably thought they were Bright Young Things who would shake up the traditions that many British taxpayers hold dear, sorry but nope.

If they want to go off on their own and live in Canada for half the year, fine, but saying they will still hold allegiance to the Queen for the other six months of the year is BS.
Hey there serene wave Looking back, of course, one sees a long chain of events that have shaped – curbed, coloured – the British monarchy.

"Magna Carta"wine
If I had to bump into either one I would definitely ignore them, cos actually thats all they are asking, a lil privacy.laugh
Hola Lukeonwave
Pardon me I have been a paparazzo latelyteddybear
Well Luke, if that's what they want they need to withdraw from public life completely, they can't have it both ways.
Serenethumbs up
agree with Luken let them grow up in peace but they cannot have it both ways.

However let us see what palace says.

I feel sorry for our QUEEN at her great age she still holds her dignity and has had to overcome soo much.

Princess Ann led a private life without shouting to the world grin
@ Serene,
If one has been born with royal blood its nearly impossible to withdraw totally. Harry had run-ins with the press here, telling them exactly what he thought of them.
Yes Luken press these days goes too far and Harry will have thought of his mother too. So much press even now bring up about her and his maybe dodgy parentage something will affect anyone truly.

Look how press distort everything build things up when nothing to build up it affects all walks of life these days
Although I understand that the British press is brutal, the remainder of British royalty appear to have been able to cope with it.

Aside from Diana of course but that's another story.

Princess Anne is a classic example of a royal identity withdrawing from public life but still upholding the expectations of the British public.
Nice move. One step further toward placing royals into much smaller, less constantly, roles. They have real brand marketing value to the Brits, but have degenerated. And for royals, historically, that's saying a lot.
Royalty is an anchor of stability based on emotional repression. More than anything else the character of nobility exists to avoid being swept up in the madness of the moment. It is consciously fashion proof.
It is hard to be "Royal" when you are married to a woman who is as common as dirt. How will Harry make a living? His main skill seems to be parlaying his "royal" status into cash, and spending money that status let him inherit. His leaving the UK would also be a blessing for the UK. His living in both worlds is an attempt to keep the "royal" money flowing, but have none of the duties entailed. I suspect that his wife makes most of the decisions for the pair.

I agree with Lenin on this subject. He said: "Kings are not appointed by God. They are created by universal hallucination."
I think they are too vociferous to be royal anyway. doh
Ysabeljhem well more word from the palace blues I feel sorry for the queen as it was a shock to her. Surely Harry could have at least given his grandma the curtsey of speaking with her first and working a way forward.

Shame on him I say. sad flower
jigsore Harry was brought up with royal protocol and if he, she, wants independent life so be it,BUT there is a way to do this not announcing it to press they are said to despise then her majesty. very mad
Lets be honest here, an American royal was never going to work. Picture it, everyone alll dressed up formally and having dinner... Down the end of the table, there's a nasal whine and grating accent, banging on about how everything is so much better in America, in amongst all the "like" and "you know"s... Everyone else politely eating their peas with their silver pea forks, rolling their eyes at each other, occasionally saying things like- here we go again, this will be good...
pat as far as I could see she had been made welcome and accepted her and her mother, she was a dignified lady I wonder how she feels at what her daughter has brought about so quickly shouting doh OH WO IS ME
In saying that, it would probably work out the same is she was Australian or any other nationaliity. They'd be accepting just as much, but you'd never really be one of them.
The leaches she has must also be a factor, the father and half sister for example.
Who are they?
rizlard that is correct but going by the queens own words she will do the best for them---more than they deserve of their treatment of her majesty for sure.
@Ysa, non royals like us dream to be a Cinderella and mimic waving hands like royals do. But maybe those royals do want to be just a commoner to be able to do what they really want to do and say. UK is monarchial and the US is not. Both are first world countries yet they differ in their curtsies. Ms Meghan blinded with love could have been shortsighted in the idea of fitting in with the royals and its restrictions. Or that the Prince chose an American who are known to be vocal as a subtle rebellion. Does foregoing duties means foregoing amenities? Always I have my own worldly worries to worry much about them. Just hope their decision makes them happy.bouquet
Harry and Meghan will no longer use their HRH titles and will not receive public funds for royal duties, Buckingham Palace says.
conversing sigh
