Adoption - and reunion

15 years ago this week I was found by my maternal birth family. The reunion has been great and the friendship is growing every day. There was still a gap though as the identity of my birth Father has been a mystery.....

......Until now !

Through 23&Me I discovered and connected with a second cousin whose maternal Grandfather is my birth Father's Brother. Her Grandfather's DNA is on Ancestry so to nail down the mystery I joined Ancestry today and ordered a DNA kit.

I shall know the truth soon and hopefully be accepted by my yet unknown how many new siblings.

There must be the very real fear that your father was a democrat and some of your new siblings could be. Statistically half the country is, after all. I hope you will decide blood is thicker than politics if it happens because when it comes down to it there's never been an admirable politician who amounted to anything, but there are only a few people we can call family.

They may not be great either, no family is perfect, but they belong to you and you to them. Politicians belong to some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time. Nothing special there.
That is cool Willie. I hope the reunion goes well for you! wave
Biff, I have both Democrats and Republicans in my family as it is. It was only 3 or 4 years ago I discovered who my Brother votes for. That's the brother I have known all his life. Nobody in the family talks politics. Ever.
Very wise policy, in my family we keep well clear of the Brexit subject laugh
And just for ref, I really am VivianLee second profile. Wade through some whiskery blogs from 5 years back and I'll pop up. Member in good standing who left the profile to fade untended handshake
Cool Viv !
My late husband and his sister were both adopted as babies. My husband had no desire to know his birth parents as he was content to be chosen by the adoption of his parents. On the other hand his sister always had a small chip on her shoulder that her birth parents gave her up and she went on a never ending search to find them. Sadly she passed before she found anything out.

I'm happy for you that DNA is finding out your birth family. Maybe a long lost sister will eventually find me as my DNA is out there.
