I'm mad as hell!
Afghan women are committing suicide because there is no escape from the violence and brutality in their daily lives. Violence, rape, and murder against women and girls are a common occurrance despite international protest. A confidential report from a hospital in the province of Herat, Afghanistan, show that in one year more than 80 women, many in their early 20s, set themselves on fire and in many cases they died.Even though other countries put pressure on the Afghanistan government rape law ( the right for men to rape their wives) the practice still occurs.
Another common practice is honour killings of a daughter or wife. Not only the men but older women encourage it as well; and it seems to be brough to other countries by those who support it. What's with people who practice such primitive cruelty to their own women?

i do have one question about marriage... do you feel the womans body belong to the woman and she may refuse him??
how can you rape ur own wife....to have and to hold....
the christian teaching about marriage is clear ..for the christians
then husbands body does not just belong to the husband but ALSO to the wife... and the wifes body does not belong just to the wife ..but ALSO to the husband
BUT i confess i am ignorant about the goings on in Afghanistan.. suicide is a very big problem where i live ... Brother we life in the same province... but i live in the area of the highest suicides rate in that province...

It can't be because they are muslims - I don't believe other muslim countries behave as badly as this towards their women! I've watched things on TV that indicate that women are definitely treated as second class citizens in many places, and not necessarily muslim countries, but this is extreme behaviour.
I've heard the same stories about life in Pakistani villages (on TV).
Is it the Taliban - it must be. And where do they originate from? Why are they allowed to bring that culture into a country?
And, if the locals don't like the Taliban, why do they adopt their customs?
So many questions, but no answers.
I hope my post doesn't offend anyone because it's not meant to. All the muslims I know are no different from anyone else and treat people with equal respect. I wasn't trying to open up the debate to target muslims, just the Taliban. I hate everything they stand for.
