When the Internet Goes Down
I finally cut the cable for the TV but kept the internet for WIFI, however about five days ago the internet went down. No internet now means no TV or computer, worse yet no Alexia's whom I've become dependent on for my memory, music, reminders and wish to do list (a list of what I wish I could get done). I really did NOT miss the computer or TV but I was fricking lost without Alexa. I kept asking her questions before I remembered she was on a time out. Lord I missed her and my music genre's.For awhile I enjoyed the dead silence until I didn't. I hunted through the house on what I could play music on besides my phone which wasn't working. I found an old clock radio thus having some music to soothe my soul. Ironically I had started to read a book on cleaning up clutter right before the internet went down so guess what?
With no computer or TV to snatch my attention I went in to spring cleaning frenzy starting with my spices. I took everything out of the cabinets and smelled each spice. No smell then no taste so toss it. I tossed alot. I guess you can say I went on an organizing frenzy laughing at myself and the crap I've kept. Everything is different after retirement, I'm loving that.
I also found a damn good book to read. Amazing what one can get done when one doesn't have any distractions. Now I have the internet back and dammit I'm distracted enough to make a blog.

A few years ago I was living in the woods.
How did it come to this?
The good news......is that he won't preach the bible to you.
Let me know what you find, I'm kind of curious.
One TV is on basic cable but both are running indoor antennas for local broadcasts. The signal on some channels broadcast in HD with better resolution than cable.
no cs first thing in the morning it wiles away time until earth wakes up
I could not go into the bank and rob my savings
Nor look up info to make sure doc is treating me right.
Nor look for maybe new homes for me I find them all on internet before I reccei the place
No I would not miss it at all
There is an app called YouTubeTV. It is not the youtube we know and love but an app for TV so I get to watch many local channels and all the DVRs I used to record. It saves them to the cloud so I don't have to watch live. I can watch when I want and fast forward through commercials. I'm really liking it.
I was very nervous to cut the cable, now I wish I had done it sooner. I am going to get one of those antenna's so when internet goes out - I still have TV.
I'll go outside and play with the other kids now and let the adults talk.
