The Isolation Blog

A place for those of us in lockdown (currently Spain but coming to a place near you soon) to share what's happening or indeed what's not happening, have a winge, report on what's happening "outside" etc. It could also be used for updating who has supplies of toilet rolls in stock professor laugh

I will pay that when I'm employed thumbs up laugh
The numbers came from an Associated Press article this morning.
Being 3rd or 4th... either way, neither one is a status we would want to be listed in.
Well my instructor who is a nurse showed me the paperwork for what I mentioned from St George hospital N.S.W
St George hospital Sydney conversing
Chat, indeed but the point I'm making is that from what I've heard locally far from breaking records the trend here in Spain is an improving one, the numbers are still big but starting to level off.
They were given to her from the hospital itself uh oh

All I know is I wouldn't die from Corona..My windpipe closes up to where I can't get any air what so ever to my lungs with anyone who infects me with a cold or flu..First time it happened to me I kept shrugging it off till I dropped and was rushed to Intensive care..The best specialists were baffled..They had never come across anything like it..Once a year between May and July it happens to me because it's our Winter..I don't get colds nor flu..But now as soon as my windpipe starts to burn I know I have to go straight to the doctor to get two weeks of high potent antibiotics..Started about five years ago.
Pat, mumbling ok I tried that, yes it did work for 10 seconds but now I have two things to worry about sigh laugh
Well, I'm guessing you have another thumb, that should buy you anouther 10 seconds. I can see a potential other 80 seconds of more or less bliss..
Merc, so similar in effect to those allergic to bee stings, it's highly unlikely you'll catch it in isolation but if you have any doubts I would think bypass your doctor and go straight to hospital so they can make sure your airway stays clear.
Pat thumbs up brilliant, so if I do all my fingers the virus will be the last of my worries, why didn't I think of that doh
Have been very clever in getting in early to open up my windpipe..Fingers crossed it continues laugh
Just had a mail with vital info on the virus, from a company that supplied me a battery -

Important Battery Care Tips
During Self Isolation
Looking after your Battery during Self Isolation

While your car or motorcycle is not in use, it is very important to keep your battery topped up to avoid returning to a flat battery or even worse, a battery that has sulphated.

We have put together a blog post detailing why batteries sulphate and what you can do to prevent it.

rolling on the floor laughing
Pace yourself big fella, one each day would be sensible. Give yourself something to look forward to each day.
Merc, I'm sure you'd know what was best if it came to it and despite how frightening it must be help will be there for you should you need it.
Pat, this is all getting too much, I have to go talk to my car battery now before I can even think about the next finger help
I'm having a fit of the giggles reading some of these comments.rolling on the floor laughing

Thank you so much Z for making a blog which we can all contribute to with all our updates with no animosity just good old common sense and above all humour..It's a real feel good factor for those home alone.yay :
Its gallows humour, if you dont laugh you'll cry...... Here's a song.

GS, it's what struck me the most when I last went out into zombie land (last wednesday), a complete lack of humour, I'm told it's even worse now, not even eye contact with the few remaining on the streets, whilst obviously there's nothing funny about a virus that kills people, losing the humour in life would mean we'd lost even more imo.
One bit of excellent news today, finding out what's happening world wide is easy but locally not so easy, however this more the local news site tells us yesterday the army arrived to help in the fight against the virus, dresses in full hazmat suits they disinfected the entrance to the hospital and were about to move on to the 3 old folks homes we apparently have here, who knew that, anyway turns out they have no cases of the virus so the army decided to leave them alone as they've been in highly infected areas and more likely to spread harm than good.
I suppose it was just a matter of time. We go into lock-down at midnight 26th march. Gives me about a 2 day leeway.
oh yea, its for 21 days.
yawn
Luke, YIKES wow but still your numbers are VERY low 21 days could see you one of the few countries ahead of the curve and solving the problem

cheers
Heard the same as Viv. There was a very bad flu around last Christmas in Ireland. I got it (not too bad), but a friend of mine with respiratory problems was majorly sick for over 2 weeks. His GP suspects it is around longer and that either this is what people got around Christmas, or something similar.

The health system didn't get overwhelmed though. confused

Italy looks scary - I do realise that every year thousands die of the regular flu, but never before health systems of countries did collapse.
I have to work tomorrow night...not looking forward to it...moping
What is the prognosis of the experts in Canada loulou?

Stay safe - a lot of people that caught it in Ireland are health professionals. blues
I guess I am about to find out what it's all about... I arrived home yesterday and amazingly got two lots of visitors within the first hour of being home.
KN, can you get tested for antibodies, to see if you did have it? I know tests are in short supply and nobody wants to overload resources but I'm beginning to think quite a few of us already had it. Which would be utterly awesome especially if it builds up some resistance even against mutations.

cheering
laugh Nota
Molly you wouldn't be lolling if twas YOUR cousin turning into a Protestant. #triggered.
I hate all whiskey, so I would be considered even worse than a prod laugh
Luke, handshake welcome to the club, I see on the news tonight the UK is also joining us.
Geez I'm not sure what day we are into our lockdown...do we listen to the President or do we listen to the Governor of our state. I'd like to believe we'd listen to the President as they are into day 11 or 12 of a 15 day run. Here in Illinois, we're on day 2. But I'm sure it'll be the Governor. After all, we can't go anywhere anyway unless or until the Governor lifts his. So we'll go with day 2. Today, we blew out some eggs and decorated them. It's funny because the 2 yr old's looks better than the 5 yr old's. We'll be doing more of them as they both had a good time decorating. Our supplies are good. The only thing we're on the lookout for are baby wipes. Other than that, we're hanging in there. I'm glad it's not summer. Not going out in the summer would truly be a bummer.
KN, who knows if we'll ever hear the full facts, I had flu a couple of years back that was nothing like I've ever had before, and I've been around a while laugh
Lou, have to be honest here, glad it's you working and not me uh oh laugh
Abagail, scold visitors are a no at the moment, but glad you got back home wine
Still-not, there are worse things he could turn into, though I know you over there wouldn't agree with that professor I mean he could apply for a UK passport for example rolling on the floor laughing
Zman

Ya...really looking forward to work...moping

But it gets me out of the house...laugh
KN

All I hear is to self isolate and utilize the usual precautions...as far as any real news regarding the virus...nada...sigh

Too early to tell...
Following two days of numbers dropping in Spain today has been a total disaster I'm sorry to say, and still 30 minutes to go, latest numbers for today, 6368 new cases and 539 new deaths sad flower
Tomorrow will a better day. We can beat this.

stay safe. Z, wave
