The Isolation Blog

A place for those of us in lockdown (currently Spain but coming to a place near you soon) to share what's happening or indeed what's not happening, have a winge, report on what's happening "outside" etc. It could also be used for updating who has supplies of toilet rolls in stock professor laugh

If it's best to isolate oneself why is Italy on continuous lock down yet it's still spreading there?
Riz, I see your point and to some extent agree, however the Chinese did close down businesses far as I'm aware, certainly the pictures of empty towns and visible reduction of air pollution from space would indicate they did, as to what's happening there currently, as you pointed out earlier the Chinese government bans citizens from mentioning the virus so how can we have any confidence that government controlled figures are accurate? Even if that is the case this whole situation started with just one case, therefore unless they eradicate every last trace of the virus as soon as any "normal" activity commences the whole cycle will begin again. Seems to me your argument rests on what the Chinese did so as world governments are now doing the same how can that be wrong?
I agree with Riz, though. Ï also think social media has become such a thorn in global government's side that this will be shortly used as an excuse to shut it down along with the more hysterical vocal media sources to, ironically, contain panic.

Morning Palm and Merc.

Covid19 is highly contagious even though not as deadly as other flu types. They have no cure for it as such and people were travelling whilst the virus was multiplying and spreading. It is nigh on impossible to control the spread completely so desperate measures are being called for. Hope they get it under control for all our sakes but they do say that it could come back this Winter.

Stay safehug
Palm, they're working on that very question as we speak, from what we know (or rather what the papers are saying) it was probably down to one teacher who'd gone from China to a skiing holiday in Europe, the others on that holiday then went back to their own countries taking the virus with them.
Merc, I suspect the incubation period is the answer to that, like putting the brakes on in a car going 100 mph it takes time to slow down.
Good evening gs..I'm not panicking if I get it I will feel blah and nothing more fingers crossed..I'm doing all right things..Problem with me not being afraid is I always miss out on the groceries I need.

Stay safe beautiful lady hug
I understand Z
V, there's two ways of looking at media panic, in this case my view is that we needed a bit of panic or the "it's just the flu" brigade would have lulled the populous into a false sense of security dunno
It's a dry hacking cough you don't have a runny nose or anything like that
Z, my point is that the panic and furore was deliberate and the backlash will not only be deliberate too, it will even be seen as a relief to most. And that's really pretty clever - can you imagine the uproar if the powers that be had tried to shut down 'freedom of the press' and 'the voices of the people' under any other circumstances? rolling on the floor laughing
Just so long as it never comes to this, eh? uh oh

At this precise moment sitting in my room waiting for the green light to go to the airport on Saturday, I feel I am being manipulated, not in control of my own destiny. I don't like this feeling, never experienced it before, it is alien to me and in the back of my head, I keep wondering WHY. Why are they making such a huge fuss over this particular virus? When previous pandemics with far more fatal results seem to have flared up and then died away. Ebola for example.
Do certain governments know something about this particular strain of coronavirus that other virus did not have? And they are not making that fact public. Or is this just a way to control the masses?
If I was in lock down with a man I could handle that between the sheets 24/7 laugh
V, something the UK government is more afraid of that the virus is waiting in the wings uh oh should they try and shut down any freedom of speech/the press Nigel Farage is waiting for a direct for his new party
laugh
Luke, thumbs up excellent, and they were keeping a metre distance between themselves laugh
yep zman all these folk trying to make a name for themselves not a care for us people all misinfo its worse than the two year leading up to Brexit.

There is a map I can go on to show escalation around our country and where it is, it is worse in London they say but the amount of folk crushed together in London is worse than other places. But also no-one is saying how many folk got ill with flu or pneumonia and unfortunately died without a comparison how can we judge. teddybear

Your more than safe with mountains around you and hopefully it stays that way.

Shops here are given certain times just for us oldies to shop, so that is a good gesture in right directions. teddybear
Riz, if you think this is panic wait until Ebola hits London or New York wow laugh
Merc, just make sure your 24/7 man brings his own toilet paper professor laugh
Red, I don't have annual figures for flu to hand, I know they're quite high but nothing like the 250k estimate for this unchecked.
Good news about the shops, you might even get to meet someone there laugh
laugh laugh never thought of that they could help with my move , but no I do not like folk touching my stuffblues I like to know were all hands have been.

the removal lads know me now I keep em in business. I leave them a key walk to new home and they load up and lock up. I will greet them ---at a distance as these are young men and good at carrying grin scold boxes sofas etc. Move out the way and let them unpack all boxes labelled for each room. Pay them cash in outstretched hand and bobs your uncle done. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

the best laid plans I hear that in my head as I might not get the place, they do checks and they have a long list of checks to do rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing houses that is I do not have debt cheers
Red, don't let Merc know you have young men coming wow she'll want one laugh
laugh laugh she can have them both there 50 but toooo young for me in fact I could invite her over and she can help and meet and greet them.

As long as she is not taller than 5ft 2 inches she could sleep on my couch I give up my bed for no man doh or women laugh laugh
Red, Merc is fit enough, if she came over you wouldn't the young (old) guys laugh
At least the UK government is sort of following their own rules, only 17 of them allowed into the commons for PM's question time, but why do I get the feeling the other 600 odd will be crammed into the commons bar doh laugh
Ok, preparing to venture out into zombie land (shopping), got my passport for the police but must dig out my tape measure to make sure I don't get closer than a metre to anyone else sigh
First trip into infected territory completed, paranoia reigns out there laugh on the way in I saw a man driving his van, on his own, with a full respirator covering his face wow Maybe V and Riz are right about panic, quite how he thought he could be infected alone in his van is beyond me, and getting through the checkout at the supermarket without coming within a metre of the cashier has to be seen to be believed, it was like the Chinese puzzle where you have move pieces around to end up in a certain spot rolling on the floor laughing I'd only gone a few hundred metres from my house when I spotted the lockdown infringement, German neighbours both traveling in the same car, well rules don't apply to Germans doh but I have to report toilet rolls are available in Motril, for those who can still get through their front door for stacks of them piled in the hallway rolling on the floor laughing
Oh and the petrol station has become self service (in case you stand too near the attendant no doubt), I haven't put petrol in my own car for 17 years doh lucky I remembered how to do it.
Hi Z,
Glad you've been able to get out even under those stressful circumstances. Just an update on Cherie. The surgeon had to replace the band on the cruciate repair done last year with a stronger one as the other one had snapped. She also did a meniscal tear repair too. My little pal is doing fine and will be home tomorrow and on complete rest for 6 weeks as before. It's the best excuse for me not having to go to neighbours for coffee. lol. I did it last year in hot weather so as it's a tad cooler I won't mind. She will have to be caged if I go out which hopefully I wont.

Will have to carry her in and out to the garden up and down stairs to relieve the weight on her leg and she will have to stay on a harness to support her but we'll survive.dancing dog

Take care and hope the perro is feeling better.hug
germanspitz, great news and I'm sure you won't mind having to give her a helping hand, I hope Scooby never needs that, he weighs nearly as much as me uh oh laugh
First a global major problem was created. Then a solution, in the form of a vaccination to the problem, will be applied to the GLOBAL population. This will be the catalyst used by the NWO to get to every single human being on earth to achieve the next level. Everyone....uh oh

Just wanna add that I have harvested and tested my first batch of cannabischeering cheering cheering

Geeez this is GOOD stufflaugh
Hey man, who are you? You seem to know me better than my own mudda knew me...Peace bro...peace rolling on the floor laughing
Z I did all the carrying last year and it nearly jiggered me as I have arthritis and am 80 years young.rolling on the floor laughing

I actually made a ramp last year but think it did more harm than good . She's so obedient but weighs nearly 10 kilos so I do it with difficulty but she really is worth the effort bless her.

Hope it doesn't affect my ability to type typing laugh
what the hell. you still sneezing in Spain? confused

stay safe . wave
germanspitz, Do they make a stannah stairlift for dogs confused laugh
Bogart, don't even mention sneezing round here, despite it not being a symptom anyone sneezing is bound to find an armed guard outside their door to keep them in doh grin
We better stop wasting time on here Z mate and say our prayers. Fatality rate in Italy is round about 43% at the moment. I've literally fouled my pants right there and then as that dawned on me.
beppe101, don't panic that's not the real figure, sounds to me like the cases verses dead figure, but that doesn't take into account the vast majority of people get it, stay home, get better and never get tested, so never make it to those figures, they reckon about one in ten that have it/had it have been tested, so if you divide that figure by ten or so that'll bring you close beer
Molly, laugh problem is they only test you when you're at death's door in hospital, so it can really slant the truth.
