I'm sick of this...

I'm sick to the stomach, and chewing my fingernails down to the quick, as there is so much misinformation and half truths being pedalled here.

I want to know the absolute truth, not bullshit conspiracy theories, not hearsay from social media etc.

What do the real genuine 100% Chinese people think about potatoes?

I'm hoping the Chinese people can provide some input, perhaps whether they prefer desiree or sebago, who knows maybe they prefer kipfler. I think they seem too classy to eat just boring old pontiacs, they probably export them or use them for cattle feed.

The Chinese seem to like potato chips (crisps), they have a pringles type in china, flavours that Chinese enjoy.

Look shredded potato is a great and popular Chinese dish; add a little vinegar and chilli too. It is called (in pinyin) tudou si

I cook it myself, and often ate it while living in China.
Maybe you've hit on the answer professor maybe the populous think there'll be a potato shortage and plan on making crisps from toilet roll dunno

Often, after a few drinks and whatnot, I serve my guests mashed potato and give them chopsticks to eat it.

It buys me heaps of time to plan a second course.
... the guy in the youtube calls them Chinese french fries, but they are nothing of the sort. The are not deep fried, just very lightly cooked and still flexible
I really like Tu dou si, a speciality dish from Sichuan, can be extremely spicy.
Another favourite is stir fried potato with rice, bacon, peas and ham (spam), spring onion. "Tu dou chao fan"
