I Just Read A Blog About Quitting A Bad Habit. For me, at this point in my life (if my life was a football match, l'd be back out for the second half cheering ) l think it is as easy to start a good habit as a bad one.
Too many people show weakness just to fit in. After covid 19, people will be more respectful of the people around them.
As a cyclist it occurs to me that what we call social distancing is about the amount of space a car should clear a cyclist on the road by. Maybe people can think that way in future.

Live for Today,
Hope for tomorrow"

In life, l believe most situations we face
Present us with three options
One : Take positive action
Two: Take no action
Three: Take negative action
For me, Do the right thing, bury your head in the sand or somehow worsen the situation.
I hope reading this blog helps somebody or improves their outlook
And understanding. But even if it does not, writing it has helped me by giving me a platform to express myself.

There is so much unknown about this Pandemic Covid 19, We need to focus on the future but learn from the past (origin).
The present is very scary but we have to hope and believe. The strength of the people around us is what will get us through, as long as everybody puts in as much support as they get. It is called give and take.
Stay safewave .thumbs up .
I think the cyclist anaolgy shows a flaw in your thinking. Its not hust about how much space motorists should give cyclists, but also cyclists could use a bicycle path where it is available on the same route, and perhaps understand motorists get frustrated driving at 15kph because a lycra clad fool is exercising their right...

Its not what everyone else can do to make your own life easier or prevent you personally from becoming ill, its what we all can do to get on top of it. Certainly motorists should give room, cyclists should not be holding everyone up, its a two way street.

The minority of cyclists that have such a poor attitude, is about the same as the minority of motorists that are abusive or behave dangerously toward cyclists...
I can see why you think that, the way you refer to "Lycra clad" maybe your mind is made up already #previous message#
But consider the cyclist is as close to the roadside or ditch and remember to
Clear on the other side with as much space as possible. If it's me l won't judge you or generalise what you are wearing.
I made a point about the similarity of the clearance space and the new social distance.l hope you didn't miss that and the roads are for everyone.Bikes are on them longer so maybe cars can slow down or if not just allow time for the journey without having to try and make up lost time.
Final point, when l cycle l enjoy myself and do not see my time as lost. I think most motorists see time spent driving as lost time and that is a bit sad .
So that explains your use of the phrase "Lycra clad" #previous message#
But why do you need to refer to "some Lycra clad Fool" ?
Maybe you do cycle sometimes and drive as well so you might pick up what l said about motorists seeing time spent driving as time wasted.
Thank you for your time and replies even if they reinforce what l see in lreland most days.
Stay safe as much as you can.
i cycled in Ireland but it was before lycra was the rage. the Irish looked at me like i was an alien.
Lycra is often bright so it can
Redouble as hi-vis..
When there is a dedicated bicycle track parallel to the road, and a cyclist insists on exercising their right to ride on the road slowing down traffic, inevitably they're wearing their favourite tour de France-looking lycra outfit. And being an inconsiderate fool...

Which is why I think your suggesting there is some similarity to social isolating, is wrong. The similarity would be- I can cough and sneeze all over anyone I choose to, and they should keep a safe distance from me or go to the shops earlier etc...

Anyway, be safe and dont set out looking for conflict, most people will be mildly irritated but eventually you'll happen upon someone equally setting out looking for conflict, and come off second best.
Funny thing to talk about coming off second best in a "conflict"
But most of what is said here is because people will never meet so
No danger.
I stand by all l have posted and it is not me backtracking and being led a merry dance.
