In the middle of a pandemic Trump threatens to de-fund the World Health Organization
While the World Health Organization (WHO) has applauded the USA's response to the pandemic, it has been critical of Trump's odd behavior in delaying a response. So, our spoiled brat "so-called" president does what he always does - retaliate. (No. I didn't do a bad job. You did. )Yesterday from NPR;

In a White House press briefing on Tuesday, President Trump criticized the World Health Organization's coronavirus response and threatened to cut its funding.
President Trump assailed the World Health Organization on Tuesday, and indicated that he will consider putting a hold on funding it.
In a media briefing at the White House, Trump twice stated that the United States funds the majority of the organization's budget. According to the WHO, the United States provided 14.67% of its funding in 2018-2019.
The WHO has been the most prominent global organization leading the strategy to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus.
But on Tuesday, Trump criticized the WHO as slow to respond to the crisis, and repeatedly said the organization has been "China-centric." He complained that the WHO "receives vast amounts of money from the United States" and that the organization "called it wrong."
"They could have called it months earlier," he said. "They would have known and they should have known and they probably did not. So we'll be looking into that very carefully."
Trump at one point said "we're gonna put a hold on money spent to the WHO," before backtracking later in the briefing and saying "we're going to take a look at it."
Trump was asked what he meant by calling the WHO "China-centric."
"I don't know, they seem to come down on the side of China," Trump replied. "'Don't close your borders to China,' they don't report what's really going on. They didn't see it, and yet they were there, they didn't see what was going on in Wuhan. They didn't see it. How do you not see it? They didn't report it. They must have seen it, but they didn't report it."
The WHO has opposed travel bans, mainly due to the economic damage they cause.
The U.S. is the single largest contributor to the WHO. Its assessed contribution is 22% of the total members' assessed contributions. The U.S. pays considerably more than the assessed contributions in additional voluntary contributions. That 22% assessed contribution has been stable for many years, but the voluntary contributions have fluctuated depending on health crises and U.S. political priorities.
The WHO is funded not only by nations, but also nonprofit organizations, foundations, companies, universities and governmental alliances. After the U.S., the next three largest WHO funders in 2018-2019 were the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the GAVI Alliance, and the United Kingdom.

Now is not the time to cut WHO funds, says official after Trump threat
US president and supporters have accused organization of being biased towards China
Senior officials at the World Health Organization have pushed back at calls by Donald Trump to withhold funding from the organization, and by Trump’s supporters for the resignation of its head, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“We are still in the acute phase of a pandemic, so now is not the time to cut back on funding,” Dr Hans Kluge, the WHO regional director for Europe, told a virtual briefing in response to a question about Trump’s remarks.
Asked about Trump’s remarks at the WHO daily briefing in Geneva, Tedros declined to address the issue directly. “I don’t think that’s necessary,” he said. “We shouldn’t waste time pointing fingers. We need time to unite … Let’s unite … The worst is yet to come if we don’t rush to ensure unity.”
The row came as the US recorded its highest toll from the virus in a single day, with more than 1,800 coronavirus deaths. Trump and key Republican supporters and sympathetic media outlets have recently escalated a months-long campaign accusing the WHO of being biased towards China, and demanding a congressional investigation.
And speaking of blowing it:
The inability to screen Americans for the coronavirus on a larger scale as it began proliferating within the U.S. has been perhaps the most criticized aspect of the administration’s early response, in addition to Trump’s attempts to downplay the nature of the disease’s threat.
Although WHO was instrumental in bolstering testing operations in dozens of countries at the outset of the global public health crisis, U.S. officials chose not to use the agency’s kits and struggled to develop their own tests.
The untouchable Trump. The say as he want, do as he want Trump.......
It's time to evict .....

IF ... WHO is covering up an act of Bio-Warfare by the CCP against the U.S. & the World, defunding it is an appropriate response.
The "Wuhan Coronavirus Documentary" is quite new & was passed along to me just recently.
The 1st 40 minutes presents evidence the virus is Bio-Engineered.
The last 10 - 15 minutes presents evidence it was intentionally used as a Bio-Weapon.
In either instance, it suggests WHO has covered CCP's neglect/malice.
Critiquing the film very briefly, I'm of the opinion that the case that the virus was man made & "escaped" is stronger than that It was used intentionally.
(Simply -- If it had been used as a weapon, it would've 1st showed up in South China rather than in the vicinity of China's alleged bio-lab in Wuhan.)
If WHO covered up CCP's mishandling of the incident (possible, if not probable), defunding it would encourage the organization to tighten up it's procedures.
Or is this just another attempt to draw attention away from Trump's horrible 'leadership' and
also retaliation for WHO's pointing out that Trump was negligent in preparedness, despite 8 warnings,
that the US was vulnerable to such a pandemic ?
It glues them to their TV sets and thus, raises their ratings.
It's really bad for the country, but it's evil genius.
It's no wonder China handpicked him.
Biography of Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, World Health Organization (WHO)
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was elected as WHO Director-General for a five-year term by WHO Member States at the Seventieth World Health Assembly in May 2017. He is the first WHO Director-General to have been elected from multiple candidates by the World Health Assembly, and is the first person from the WHO African Region to serve as WHO's chief technical and administrative officer. Immediately after taking office on 1 July 2017 Dr Tedros outlined five key priorities for the Organization: universal health coverage; health emergencies; women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health; health impacts of climate and environmental change; and a transformed WHO.
Dr Tedros served as Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2012–2016. In this role he led efforts to negotiate the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, in which 193 countries committed to the financing necessary to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Dr Tedros served as Ethiopia’s Minister of Health from 2005–2012, where he led a comprehensive reform of the country’s health system. The transformation he led as Ethiopia’s Minister of Health improved access to health care for millions of people. Under his leadership Ethiopia invested in critical health infrastructure, expanded its health workforce, and developed innovative health financing mechanisms.
Born in the city of Asmara, Eritrea, Dr Tedros holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Community Health from the University of Nottingham and a Master of Science (MSc) in Immunology of Infectious Diseases from the University of London. Dr Tedros is globally recognised as a health scholar, researcher, and diplomat with first-hand experience in research, operations, and leadership in emergency responses to epidemics.
He received the Decoration of the Order of Serbian Flag in 2016, and was awarded the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Humanitarian Award in recognition of his contributions to the field of public health in 2011.
This guy is rotten to the core.
He got the majority of the vote, something that Trump did not do.
Your statement IS valid.
It's also Pointless.
WHO sacrificed "World Health" on the altar of Political Correctness ...
WHO's priorities has/will cost an appalling number of lives & brought on World-wide Recession with attendant suffering & hardship.
Plenty reason enough to defund WHO - for the purpose of motivating it to Shape Up.
IMO.
Some of y'all's results may vary & I'm sure they do - That being to use Any & ALL means to Trash Trump. GIT IZ AZZ!! No matter the cost in human life & misery.
China covered up Wuhan Coronavirus
The cover up is what impeded knowledge and helped the spread of the virus.
But, at that time, how could WHO, or anyone know what the accurate information was ?
Perhaps "portend" wasn't Quite the Right Word ...
That was Then ... Whatever Has Been --
ATLAS & Covid are now going to join "Comet" & "Plague" @ the hip FOREVER.
BTW -
ATLAS was first sighted late last year -- roughly concurrent with covid.
So it Was portentous -- kinda at least.
