Rest in peace, my friend!
This blog will be in a different tone than my other blogs. Read on to find out why.A while back, I was a student at a place called VUC. It's education for adults, and it's for people who never really finished their higher education. When you graduate from there, you can effectively go and get your bachelor's degree. One of the people in my class was a Danish/Swedish/Gambian girl called Grace. Her and I hit it off from the very beginning, and we became super good friends. Even after I dropped out, due to personal reasons, we kept in touch. We met on and off, just to catch up and hang out. Go to cafe's, to the cinema and to dinner. It was always in a friendly manner, nothing else.
When she got pregnant with her first child, I was happy for her. I knew she would make a fantastic mother, and up until yesterday, that's exactly what she was. I am saying that, because yesterday evening, I found out that she had passed away. She was just 33 years old. It's SO not fair! She had everything to live for. She loved dancing in the rain, singing, having fun and just being a free spirit. Now she can be free to roam the field of reeds! Free from worry. Free from being put under pressure and being treated differently. just because she was a person of color.
I will forever miss her. Life is gonna be a bit more empty, now that she's no longer with us.
Rest easy, you fantastic soul!
