If you love somebody, bring em home
Before God doesLike many countries we Irish also pride ourselves in thinking/believing we are old people friendly...
From my own experience within my own community/ jurisdiction it is easy for me to believe why we are, but when I look beyond that and watch documentaries on our TV exposing the abuse of our elderly in nursing homes... It is easy to see why I think less pride and more shame on us.
I won't go into the shameful/disgraceful because even remembering boils my blood let alone speak of it
What I will say though, our government along with authorities promised, such negligence would never happen again.... yet here we are so many months later, already seeing results of their broken promise.
Our death toll todate (as I know it) is 365
187 of those are patients that came from nursing homes.
As far as I know, between private and HSE we have 520 nursing homes throughout Ireland....
when last I read, 240 were infected with the virus, that's more then half, which is a holy disgrace.
so much for the PROMISE.. .
This is a tough time not easy for anyone nevertheless, I do worry about those who helped built shape the world, are they being neglected with not as much thought as the younger, because they are old, with a life lived, their end isn't as important as others continuing ... I know that sounds horrid but fortunately or unfortunately not everyone thinks the same.
Thankfully I do not have a loved one of mine in a nursing home......
but if I had and without another thought, I'd have them home isolating with me where I know they would be safer and have much more better GUARANTEED care.

I would have to agree with you - if you can, get them out. While I didn't experience any problems, you hear all the horror stories of those that did.
because so many are doing a great/ brave job on the front line, who really wants to give out....
nevertheless even the horrible truth needs to be spoken/questioned when the evidence is there to be seen.
Lucky you getting out when you did
Some are like a prison, a rotten last stop for anyone
I think I'm going home.
It was a high end place, very expensive, but I could see past the magnificent flower displays and shiny polished wood floors and exquisite interiors.
Rooms with some people singing, but most hanging off their chairs, with medication to keep them easty to manage, as some were quite agitated with Dementia and Alzeimers. A living death. At the Mercy of the nurses aides and I never saw a nurse once in 3 years.
thanks for introducing it to me
But your comment ....
you're going home you think
What's that all bout?
Can't find any such song by chris ....
hopefully the below will do
if you kill me I will never talk to you again.
but between us, I think you and I are CS unpaid DJ's ...
what do you think, should we demand a wage at this stage or what
As for you'll never talk to me ....
Steady on now man, and stop giving me motive
no pay to play.
for certain reasons matron told a staff member, two weeks off you have to go into self isolation... staff member not wanting to do this said yeah" this coming from a woman who did not do right thing when she should of.
Need I say it, another staff member continued on working when they should not of
I've watched some hidden camera footage you have mentioned, never for too long mind, its both disturbing and upsetting and God love the elderly, unable to fend for themselves
As for the virus and the neglected nursing homes, can't see anyone really being charged for murder, in my eyes, that's what it is.... In my own country where the negligence is now out of control, watching the news I see similar problems/carelessness going on elsewhere.
New Jersey 17 dead bodies from one nursing home stored up in a shed ...
Nursing home in Spain, not only were the residence neglected, but they were abandon to fend for themselves.... but hey" because of the good work other reliable staff do, we are not allowed to question, high light the carelessness and negligence, even when it is so obviously there
The " girl" we're still working on
I'll go watch that link now?
but since you're here ....
how do you upload a link from FB without revealing your name as well?
As for your FB question I have no idea, you may have to ask a higher authority on that one, Girl....
....
....
If you think you seen that poem before elsewhere
you could be right
it brings it on home, the sadness and loss of it all.
What a sweet, passionate blog, Celtic.
It has taken some time but I am now officially a carer for the elderly ....
to be honest I'm not sure if I'm cut out for it but fingers crossed I am... talk about putting money where your mouth is, that is where I am
Bring em home, not my role .....
making em feel at home is
