On the first question about the plants, they have to be put to the test lol
I don't think they would grow as well as a plant who is nicely encouraged to grow.
I even hug my plant sometimes lol
Eventually, they will.....grow on you.
My sister in Holland told that when it was her birthday our other sister came over but did not hug her.
