Immune Booster Not.

In biblical era plagues were punishments from God. (Some people think so even these days.) We are not dealing with a plague but a pandemic, some will say. Whatever. ...(I will learn the difference if someone doesn't point out the difference between a plague and a pandemic.)

However, as us humans and science evolved, we are more aware of bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. How they infect us and how they spread.

Anyway, understanding science is not a strength I am born with.

Just like Trump, none of us are medical experts to talk about medications and treatment. And as we all know internet and media are full of shit and lots of non experts giving expert advice. One moment you think you have learnt something, the next article tells that it is not true. (That is if you read in research mode rather than believe everything mode )

At this moment in time, it is better to understand our bodies and it's systems and functions than fall for every bullshit.

Our immune system is designed to protects us from infections through various lines of defence. It's a complex system. The function of our immune system is made up of the reciprocal reaction between our diet, stress, lifestyle and environment other than our genetic material and various types of cells and even memory cells that are stored to combat similar pathogens.

There are lots of bullshit about boosting the immune system these days.

But the truth is, the immune system is not designed to be Boosted. The correct message should be of maintaining a healthy immune system so that it would function when necessary to fight diseases,
by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and minimum stress levels.

Yes, there are certain nutrients, vitamins and minerals required for the function of our immune system. Lack of them in our diets will hinder the functions. But no secret ingredient, super food or a magic supplement can boost our immune system.

Non expert Usha marveled by the immune system signing off on a glorious Wednesday in month of April, year 2020.

Be safe. Stay home but not glued to a screen.
Have a nice day.!bouquet

Feel free to add any other facts about the immune system and its functions.

Something decays in every advance society makes in same way that people become too important to eat wheat. The vaccination is injected experience so people can function outside of the shelter that society is.
Hello Usha wave

The question is :
Not how can I boost my immune system? but...

What should I do to prevent KILLING it in the first place?

Shall I give you a list?
Anything with Elderberries in it like wine, syrup, jam etc, (just never eat the actual berries) will definitely boost the immune system lol
I been taking it a couple months now so that's how it's poison is already in my bloodstream :)
Usha, I have to say, you always write good blogs.
No BS scaremongering, doom and gloom, false news or instant snake oil solutions. Kudos to you bouquet
Order them online...
Chesney, I have learned past few days about vaccines and what they do. Interesting. I saw Vivian's blog about BCG. So now I am wondering if my BCG vaccine would prevent me from Corona.

I am not very good with science. The more I learn now the more I wonder why I didn't like these stuff when young. doh

Interesting point of view.wave
Thank you very much for the input Spectr. I have heard of it.

But I also learned that phlegm is produced by our body to discharge pathogens from body and the areas drying out.

I have to read more on this especially because Covid 19 apparently hardens the phlegm in lungs. Thank you for bringing that up.

It's the shield in an otherwise open world. Society gives automated/inherited/injected ability to defend oneself. All progress amounts to live fast, die old.
AI, please do share the list. I am actually learning about things I never liked before. It would be useful. Thank you. bouquet
Usha you welcome btw :)
Chesney that is another thing I like to know. With vaccines and antibiotics if we have weakened our immune system and it's natural defence mechanism. Lots of stuff to understand.

Thanks.bouquet
Sugar
If we could avoid that, our guts would be a lot healthier.
People who eat a lot of ready-meals or processed foods are putting so much sugar into their bodies, and this is apart from the sugar we are aware we are eating - cakes, biscuits, sweets etc.
Convenience food is awash with sugar which our bodies cannot handle.
Thanks Molly. I am trying to learn and get educated.

I hated science at school. Only an epidemy could make me interested in science. How stupid am I. laugh

Stay safe. Ireland is doing good compared to UK. thumbs up bouquet
Stay safe Spectr. Thank you for the music. bouquet
I am not interested in the technical side of science either, but some things interest me.
Gut health is one of those laugh
usha I tend to stick to foods rather than vitamins from a bottle..I just consume what I feel is right for me.
Usha, I can only give you some examples that come to mind at the moment...

As we all know:
Smoking, alcohol, drugs are on top of the list.

Then, processed foods, refined, sugar and more..

Also, taking antibiotics from an early age for any little infection, cold or whatever, instead of letting our built in "antivirus" do its job.

Personally, I very seldom took antibiotics as they were not readily available and also very expensive when I was a kid.
I never had any vaccinations, apart from the polio and never drunk alcohol nor smoked.

I also try to eat as healthy as I can...(vegetarian diet).

I can't remember last time I had the flu or any infection.

The only thing I've been taken for a few years is a daily dose of vitamin C 500mg which was prescribed to me for blood circulation.

Daniela. bouquet
Molly, although some restaurants are delivering food including McDonald's, KFC and Pizza hut, I can't think of food cooked by someone else at the moment.

I think media should broadcast the importance of diet , exercise and relaxed mental states than broadcasting good for nothing politics. But media depends on ad revenues. They won't speak the truth. Would they? grin
Now my sister (who's a doctor) and her family, who have had a complete different life style than I had, they're always ill and catching colds and flu etc every year, and antibiotics don't even have any effect anymore!

If they get the virus, it will kill them!
That's right Usha, I wouldn't want to eat any take away!

At least, with my home cooking, I know the ingredients.
Usha, I don't consider McDonalds and KFC to fall within the realm of 'food laugh

But I believe in everything in moderation. I know Daniela can live without alcohol and the other evils of life and that is brilliant for her, but I enjoy the evils of life devil
I would make a very bad hermit who lives to 119 but lives a very clean and chaste life.
I love food, I love going out to restaurants. I enjoy wine and other drinks. I unfortunately have a terrible sweet tooth too blues That is the one thing I have to work to moderate.
But as for the rest, I like to live well, eat good food, drink good wine and enjoy every second of it. But I do generally live a relatively healthy life by balancing it all.
Me too Merc. I have come to listen to my body. I think our cravings are a way of body telling us what is lacking. I think.

Take care Merc. bouquet
Hey Usha yikes I am probably lumped in with the false news or instant snake oil solutions roll eyes my bad for trying to interrupt the doom and gloom and scaremongering to report that testing is happening in vast numbers and there is genuine hope of a lockdown-free future while we wait for what has never been achieved before - a vaccine against a corona-type virus. I was so careful to quote proper medical sources, too. Tchah.

If you had a booster within the last 15 years you will become our CS test subject laugh the hope is not that it will stop people getting it, but that it dramatically improves their chances of getting it lightly.

Although your headline is "immune-booster not" so - dunno
Take care usha..Eat well..Don't stress.. Be patient..Be grateful we're untouched from sadness in regard to the happenings of the world as it is right now bouquet
My above reply in regard to being grateful that we're untouched ect..I meant those close to us or people we know haven't been affected..Of course we all feel sadness and very touched by other peoples suffering...
Thank you Daniella. I like everything you said. I can't take hard liquor but a wine or a champagne is something I would have in social gathering.

I can't live without meat and fish.

The antibiotics and vaccines. That's something I am curious of. I think you gave me living proof and evidence with your own experience.

Stay safe lovely lady. bouquet
Merc, yes. After almost 1 and a half months staying in, not going out at all curfew will be lifted next week here.
Yes, we have to be grateful yet be cautious. It's not over but I think something positive will come soon. thumbs up
Molly, I have tried McDonald's only once. I rather eat cat food than that. We have a rescued kitten now and I know how their food smell. laugh

I don't like food that much. I am lazy to eat and if I am busy I can go without food for a day. I don't like sweets but I enjoy different things when I get a chance. Just to know what is so special or what's the big haa hoo.
laugh
I lost interest in science because my teacher didn't dress properly. laugh She was boring to look at and more boring to listen to Itchy. That's young and dumb me.

I don't find anything long if it is teaching me something. Thank you for sharing this book. I must try to find it but it won't be easy under these circumstances.

Stay safe Itchy. Hope all of your family is fine too.bouquet
Usha, I adore food laugh
Daytime eating doesn't bother me either way, but I love a nice dinner in the evening.
I try to get my fruit intake in during the day, and my veg with dinner.
I am not a huge meat eater, but I love fish, and try to get a few portions of oily fish in every week.
I wouldn't bother drinking wine with a meal of I'm alone, but when I have company or go out for a meal (that feels like it was in another life now blues ) I do enjoy sharing a bottle of nice wine.
Dan, I never thought you were a saint laugh
I avoid antibiotics as much as I can too. But if I do have to take them, I quickly restock on good bacteria to balance it out.
Usha ~ my typing and thinking is getting worse. I meant to say he lived to be 96. No ailments. My mother who did not rear me either, is , I believe 90. She is healthy too.
Molly, glad you agree wink innocent
Hello Ms. Usha...

I wonder how our body will fair against something that even nature didn't think of...a hybrid manmade bug. Some do believe that is what we are facing right now with this current virus.

That is what I have heard, becoming more healthy does seem to be the best defense for this. Also, don't be old either. dunno ...so it is reported.

You know, I wonder how much it matters what we know about this virus or not if we are all being forced to be isolated.

wave
Fay, you are right about it. We are always tempted. Like Jesus with bread. laugh I order groceries with Uber at times, but the restaurants keep popping up and with great difficulty I ignore them. blues
Biff, this is what I worry. Every one coughing sneezing. I hope the masks are good enough way and the washing hands can be programmed to our heads once we go out after the lock downgrin
Urban, good to see you around. bouquet

My daughter was given probiotic once because she is forever getting sick. But she read something about it and didn't take it. I have very little trust in doctors too. Because one doctor said it's not right to prescribe prebiotics without proper tests done.

Anyway, I think she was getting sick psychologically more than anything else because she is lazy. For the past two months she hasn't complained about anything. ( touch wood)laugh

You are right about genetics. My children always complain getting worse of mine and their dad's.
laugh

Stay safe. hug
Molly, yes it all seems like another life. Last week it was my daughter's birthday and she received a compiled video of messages and I almost cried not being able to see them in real. blues If I am missing anything that is seeing people in real.

I broke curfew and went to see my married daughter. grin doh
Usha,

As posted in the Drunkard's Medical Science Journal: Lots of drinking of alcoholic drinks fights germs and viruses and whatever else. Besides, people who are really drunk won't know the difference anyways. Or so they say.

It's also been said that Eating Sunflower Seeds takes away bad breath. And squeezing tomatoes under one's armpits helps with armpit odor.

Just some stuff I once heard or read somewhere. Not sure where. professor
grin
