The New Normal

It hasn't dawned yet but everyone agrees things won't ever be quite the same

There are some things from our respective quarantines many would like to keep. For those who can, working from home, with perhaps one or two trips to the office a week, would be good to keep

More meetings online instead of dashing around on planes trains and automobiles, definitely worth keeping

Socially, not being expected to kiss-kiss or hug every stranger you meet, that works for me grin

The floor is open. If you were in charge of designing the New Normal, what would you aim for ...

At least all the above mentioned.

Hi Lee.. teddybear
I was aiming for a root..blues laugh
Kal, hi wave

Merc, not sure we can put that in as a general requirement ... laugh but hey why not, this is ideal world after all. Works for me!! applause
I can't work from home as I'm employed at one gym which is bloody closed..I workout at another gym which is bloody closed..I can now have two visitors but can't touch them..My state has had more cases so it's not like I can flee to another country laugh

No sense moving to another state because as soon as I mention my state they will run away giggle
So what's the ideal New Normal for you? and I do know gyms will be one of the last things to re-open blues

(You know what I find odd? The phase we are locked in right now, I can go to a hairdresser or a manicurist, which is by definition very close contact with a person who is having other close contacts, but I can't visit anyone, or have any visitors. confused and I can now go for a walk for up to a km, but I can't sit down on a bench or wall along the way, and just enjoy the view and the sunshine and being out confused I do hope New Normal isn't going to include more of this New Logic)
Hola Viv..

For me, I am enjoying the peace & quiet and lack of tourists and neighbours.

As for the spanish logic, well...it's practically non existent!
Even the spanish don't understand the rules and regulations! laugh

As for our daily walks, YES, you can sit on a bench or on the wall, having a drink and admiring the view.

I do that every day and walk on the beach, which is practically empty and others are also sitting on benches...which is allowed!

Tomorrow Monday, we're starting phase 1 and we'll be able to sit at terraces to have a meal, some shops will be open, and we can visit family members and go in the car with those living in the same house.applause
Meta then that's a no from you on working from home laugh I do anyway and have done for a few years - there are disadvantages but I'm loving the commute dunno

Nothing you do want to see when we settle in the future, then.

Merc maybe it was all those stupid protesters complaining they couldn't get their roots touched up and not enough complaining they couldn't keep fit? laugh

AI - your policia may be more relaxed than ours. Here a guy was fined for sitting on the beach with his son instead of running about, and the guidelines were emphatic, the outings are for exercise. Maybe I should have picked Murcia uh oh because you may be moving to phase 1 tomorrow but we, although meeting all conditions for phase 1, aren't. It seems Spain is running a little experiment with a 51% split and we ended up in the placebo group.

Probably why I am daydreaming about the mythical time that may one day come. daydream

Reboot - that's now, you need to start lobbying early to make that a law for the future laugh
So maybe in the new normal, gyms outside under partial cover? Not sure how that would work ... good luck with your next stage and fingers tightly crossed for no spikes in infection and losses of the new freedom.

We will in final phase be allowed up to 800 people in outdoor gatherings. But there will still be limits on private parties even if you have a garden and everyone stays outside. Okay ... confused
Oh that's weird! A few days ago I changed my profile photo to one in harbin, mask beanie gloves scarf, all rugged up. Now through no action of my own it has changed again to another photo, taken in guilin. I did not do that, but it has clearly happened.
Fargo the mods will change your profile picture if your face can't be seen
I think that is because you have to be recognized at least.dunno
Mods use to change my pics or crop my tongue off when I had a pic of me sticking my tongue out in fun on Xmas day buddies laugh
So how do you explain the be-masked VivianLee? haha
Viv is special giggle
Dear me viv you have got your knickers in a twist.

First off if everyone was allowed to be as normal a few months past, the death rate in Spain would have been much higher.

At the moment it looks like the are doing what England will do --fazed and if there is a hot spot closed down again.

Some people have the virus but do not know no symptoms but can pass it on. I do not know about you but if i thought maybe i had passed this dreadful virus on sad flower sad flower sad flower

Anyways as i said before until a vaccination is found and that will be difficult because all over the world it seems as if the virus alters--as they do it will be hard.

Life will change from what we know as so called normal for a long time yet, so go with the flow or you will be discontented for a long time. hug teddybear
Fargo you can still see its viv grin
... ah! and Vivian has only one photo
so your upset comfort
Fargo good ones except what is all-day yum cha? confused your day sounds like mine, but I shan't risk touching the screen until I'm up to date with comments - it might be tricky to finish from inside the screen looking out rolling on the floor laughing wine

And yeah I think photos are rotated sometimes just to remind us we're being watched? confused I didn't expect this pic of me to stay up more than a day, I can only think it survived because it is topical.

Or Merc is right and I'm special grin masks do suit me though.
Red - where are my knickers in a twist??? and I said the New Normal has not dawned yet. We're not expecting it in Spain before July. This was a mild blog wondering what people would like to see kept from the State of Alarm.

Thank you for your kind advice, however. tip hat
sorry viv i thought you were moaning again about draconian restrictions.

For me let there always be books on line as the library's will be long time before opening here.

And i hope i do not move as i have big open spaces to walk in when the time comes.

Still that will be hard as i will not use public transport anymore and i live at the top of a hill, so when moving is allowed again i will be on the hunt for something down in the town teddybear
@vivian yumcha is a bit like tapas, small dishes, smaller and cheaper than tapas - Chinese steamed dishes mostly. yumcha means 'drink tea' and usually starts about 10-11 am, and finishes 2-3pm. It is also called yincha, dimsum or dianxin all meaning small dishes with tea.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ????

Today we moved one step closer to the day where we can re-open at Aquafit and see your smiling faces again soon! ????

Here’s what we know so far! ??

Today, Prime Minister Scott Morrison delivered a 3 Phase framework for a COVIDsafe Australia, for the gradual resumption of business and services over the coming months

Whilst mention was made of outdoor Bootcamps in Phase 1 and reopening of gyms in Phase 2 and 3 of the framework – much is yet to still be determined.

Further clarification is required for NSW fitness businesses and exercise professionals, with the exact timings of proposed re-openings determined at a state level. We also anticipate that re-opening will be subject to strict restrictions on capacity, social distancing and sanitation requirements. We await further announcements early next week by the NSW government about the proposed roadmap and timings, to assist with our planning.

As a Fitness Australia registered business, we will be abiding by a comprehensive framework for the safe re-opening of gyms provided by our National Industry body.

Meanwhile, over the last several weeks, we have been working hard behind the scenes (including creating a few surprises) ???? to ensure that your Aquafit Health Fitness Wellbeing will provide even higher levels of cleanliness and sanitation and a safe environment for our members and team ????????

We’ll keep you updated as we know more!

Just received the above notice on FB..HURRY UP laugh
Nothing changes for me, Viv! dancing cool
Fargo, cheers for that description! Tapas in bars here is quite possibly now extinct because even when things are settled under the New Normal no food at a cafe can be shared even by people living in the same house. frustrated Hopefully that brilliant slice of New Logic will slink off looking sheepish, never to return, because tapas is half the reason people go out to drink, here.

For starters, no fancy dainty little tapas counters offering a tempting array. You get what the kitchen has. Well, up to now. Different type, even if only a plate of crisps, with every new round of drinks and okay sometimes oddly strong pickled mushrooms but generally very edible.

Thing is, it was free (cannot get cheaper than that laugh) and delivered on a shared plate (for 2, or 4) with your drink. You got what the kitchen had. I usually got double because the person I usually drink with doesn't eat fish or Spanish bar sauce and tapas was almost inevitably at least partly fish or almost inevitably drizzled (or swamped) with bar sauce grin
Merc - yay just hope the surprises don't include swimming in disinfectant uh oh
I think I raised this blog too early, no-one but Fargo is ready yet to think to a future we can't really get our heads round, when this is over and life has settled into the new moulds. If we can't imagine it, we can't work out what we want from it.

I'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack when it's in our sights laugh
I'd like a total re-think of the whole way of living and what we consider life and living to be all about.

Well viv plenty of chat on how life will be???? reckon it will never be the same again, not in my life time anyway.

Kids will be taught and brought up so different. Maybe some good will come out of it, less cars, maybe folk wont cough in you face when passing, shopping on line will be the norm. Less pollution in the air and more folks working from home.

Kids and parents new bonds, kids learning how to entertain themselves without roaming the streets doh we live in hopes anyway.

Stay safeteddybear
I welcome the change.

I hate shaking hands with people. My hands are always cold, and they always made sure i knew it.

Some people use the loo and don't wash their hands (ewwwwwww).
Red, "Kids and parents new bonds, kids learning how to entertain themselves without roaming the streets we live in hopes anyway." that would be a really good outcome.
AmicableSmiles, you'd have been blown away by Spain as it was laugh one example my bilingual neighbour introduced me to a friend of hers who speaks no English whatsoever. I can just about discuss the weather (how very English!) in Spanish. Yet ever after when that friend saw me in our small town she would rush up and insist I bend down so she could MWAH MWAH on each cheek. rolling on the floor laughing

Yeah that's gone.
