What's Your Favorite Music Video?

Music videos have been around for some time now, however, really started making a visual statement (as art) in their own right (apart from the song); probably in the late 1980's. This was when "basic" special effects (generated by computers) came along.

Back then, (if you lived in Australia) you had to watch a show called "Countdown" (top of the pops format -on TV) to see your favorite musicians perform. In Australia, The ABC television station has a music video all night (weekends) TV show called "Rage" . In America it is MTV (or it was in the late eighties). Nowadays; of course, we have most music videos on youtube.

Anyway, you get the idea.

Blog open for each person to post their favorite music video/s.

(please post a maximum of 1 per comment). Comments are sought for each music video - Why do you like it? What makes it special?

To kick things off, I'll post a few of my favs. (there's really too many, to choose from)...

A bit more, classic Brit Pop, for you all.....
Bad Company--Bad Company song.

Thanks BW. Have to go offline, for a while.

All of you out there, please feel free to add, to this blog....
One of my older brothers served in Vietnam War someone had asked him if it was more dangerous flying over there or being there in person. He just looked at that particular person and shook his head and just walked on.

A bit of lesser known Australiana from the 80's
Dave Warner...
(Also, does an excellent version of "Eve of Destruction")
Actually, this (Dave Warner album), dates back to 1978...

Another excellent example of Aussie indie stuff, from the 80's
love the ending of this (Triffids) song...

The "doo, doo, doo, doo...dah dah dah dah", bit (at the end of the song)
For the guitarists out there, the ending is the chords: G, Em, G, Em, G, Em....(fade)..
(pretty cool, right?)......
technically called the "outro" .....

Full marks, for this Banksy (esque) music video...
Thanks robrt....could you post the vid?

Of course any good music list would be incomplete without this classic.....
I'm pretty sure that the intro was inspired by the famous old guitar piece "Spanish Romance"....
Anyway, going offline, for a while. Feel free to add to this blog folks.....thumbs up

A bit of an insight, into FBS mixes music (and gets away with copy right by using <10% of any one given track). A bit of an insight, into the DJ ing, and mixing process, generally)...

This vid, just about sums up my feelings about religion....
Oh, yeah; and just finally, for today:

(Be careful how you train your monkeys)!
A bit more Aussie, indie stuff (c 1980's)....DC, was ahead of her time....

Another iconic indie song, from the Go Betweens, (circa late 1980's)

Finally....I'm not really a big Country Music fan, but Casey really nails it here....(and so did the producers of this video)...

feel free to add to the list, folks.......
This video is interesting, because no one (that I have ever heard, speaking on the topic), can work out exactly how they achieve these effects....Maybe some bright spark out in CS land can explain?......any takers?

Before you say "computers", this was made before many special effects were available...
Sure computers may well have been involved; but exactly how is it done?
I didn't see any effects
There are effects, merc, look again....

A bit more iconic 80's Aussie stuff y'all.........

....and a bit more from the same era...

This is another classic, from that era....RIP Marc Hunter....

Last but not least..., a truly Great Song. Some people rubbish the '80's but it had some great music....if you know where to look....

One of the most famous Aussie songs ever!

.
Oh Lordy!......
