Converting songs and things to metric...
America made a poor attempt to convert to metric in the 1970's and with the exception of tools and some engineered products, we switched back to the imperial system learned from England.Last time I checked, America, Liberia and Myanmar were the only countries still measuring by feet and weighing by pounds. Thanks England for abandoning us!
It's time to set the record books straight.
Let's start with the 1967 song 98.6 by Keith.

I'll fix that to be "Don't judge a man until you walk 1.6 kilometers in his shoes."

Now it's 914.1-609.6-914.1
"I know you won't be satisfied, until you do it"
"The 2 Liter Bottle Of Soda"................
"Well it's a hot one.
Like.... 17.78 centimeters.... from the midday sun"
"Venezuela
The “big four” beauty pageants
Venezuela is the undisputed queen of the pageant world. In addition to seven Miss Universe titles, women from the South American country have won eight Miss International competitions, six Miss World titles, and two Miss Earths."
If I buy fabric off the roll I conceptualise width in imperial, but the length I request I calculate (and have to buy) in meters.
There's no way we're going to let go of our imperial measurement idioms, we re-frame 500ml as just over half a pint, but we're adept at comparing grocery prices in metric because it's easy to work in base 10.
I still haven't got over the swindle that was being told 2 1/2 pence change was the same as 6d change, mind. I was five years old, but even then I knew it wasn't me who had been hit with the stupid stick.
