Good old Moses had to be 65 years old when Irene was conceived. The war ended in 1865.

Mose was 83 when 27 yo Mrs. Triplett gave birth to Irene in 1930.

May not be the last on the pensioner , couple of years ago there were 3 woman who were child brides of ex cival war servicemen still alive .

At the time of the Civil War a woman was an old maid if not married by 20. Mores have changed to accomodate the rising requirement for education. The important thing to note is that it's still the old way in much of the world. We often see the outraged stories about 15-year-old brides, but you should really check when your great grandmother got married before you agree.
