"D-Day"..("JUNE 6TH 1944")

"Though The World Has Been Going Through Some Very Dire Times Lately?.......We Still Must Remember All Of Those Brave Young Men.....Actually?...Most Of Them Were Not Men.........They Were Basically?..... Young Men....To Be More Precise?..These Guys Were....... In Most Cases?.......Kids
After All....It Is Always The Young That Have To Do The Fighting And The Dying.......
And Some Of Them Came Back With Missing Limbs And Others Came Back Confined To A Bed Or A Wheel Chair.....For The Rest Of Their Lives

But Still...These Young Men From Canada....From The United Kingdom............. And From The United States Of America
Stormed The Beaches of Normandy
And Most Of The Initial Wave That Thundered Ashore?...... Were Cut To Pieces

But Even Through This Carona Virus That We Are Grappling With?
And The Killing Of George Floyd?

Let Us Not Forget Those Brave Young Men That Lost Their Lives
On That Fateful Day Of June 6th 1944
Let Us Remember Those Young Men
And Lift A Glass To Their Sacrifice

Ike knew the success of the D-Day landings was not assured.
He'd prepared a "Failure Message" which, of course, was Never delivered ...

It is chilling to contemplate how World Events might've played out had the Supreme Commander, European Theater Of Operations been forced to deliver That message.

Codenamed Operation Overlord, the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France's Normandy region.

This all took place 4 yrs before I was born.I don't think I ever learned about this as a child.dunno
