tout not your dogma

tout not your dogma
nor stand before me to
spout before me
this or that that I
will surely scoff
politely if I can

knock not on my door
to promulgate
a vision divine
because I can assure you
it is not mine
please no more you
should contemplate
before you knock again

Jehovah's witness won't be deterred though cos I've tried telling them .
They may knock, but get short shrift - two seconds is all it takes and no expletives are needed.
Fargo ~ Many people here where I am living no longer answer the door unless they are expecting somebody. It may seem odd but I've started the habit now. If I am expecting somebody to call they text me or call me from the phone to say they're in the Car.
It means I don't get Jehovah Witnesses, TV companies with a better deal , or people offering to fix tiles or power wash my front.
Think about it.

daydreamReminds me of a story told by Son ...

He had a college prof who taught religion -- Especially Old Testament/Judaism.
The guy Loved the subject ... LIVED for it.

Johovah's Witnesses knocking on His door got ALOT more than they bargained for uh oh
He'd invite 'em in -- even offer refreshments -- and let give their spiel.
He'd then engage 'em quoting original Hebrew, Greek & Aramaic texts happy place

He Loved It & kept the poor Witnesses going for Hours ... 'til they were Begging to leave please so they could return to their homes & families ... stuck

Y'all can bet your Immortal Souls those folks Contemplated long & hard before ever again knocking on That door! hole
rolling on the floor laughing

cowboy
Having used 'short shrift' for the first time perhaps this millenium, thought I should chase up its origin:

It's from the verb shrive, the act of confessing to a priest followed by penance and absolution

And I see

Seems to be quick absolution in extremis

That once happened to a friend and me. We were sitting under a shade tree discussing St Paul and the Neo-Platonists, when up came the evangelists. They had no idea of what we were talking about. As they retreated, my friend yelled "Oh yeah, and what's a Paraclete?" We never even got around to the conquest/ethnic cleansing of Canaan.
Oh btw, the door knockers - the Watchtower - is not literal; I am thinking too of the dogma obsessed here, mostly male but with the occasional obsessive female too. The one-eyed Democrats and Republicans, the irrevocably and immovably and thoughtlessly anti-this or anti-that
