Time
For quite a long time I have had an intuitive feeling that there is no such thing as time. Yet I can’t even say that without recruiting the concept of time to help me in the denial of its own existence. My intuition tells me that what we call the past, the present and the future, all exist simultaneously and perpetually. Every object and every event that ever was, is or will be, just is, constantly. But how we experience that as the linear process we call time is a complete mystery to me.Do we each have one consciousness that steadily progresses through this strange, static landscape, experiencing it as the passing of time, while in reality it is only our consciousness that is passing? Well not really, because that would mean our consciousness would be travelling in time. Do we then have infinite consciounesses, each experiencing one unit of existence? If so, how are all these separate perceptions joined together to form our overall perception of now? And could there even possibly be such a thing as a unit of existence?
As I am writing this blog, am I also only just being born, while simultaneously experiencing my terminal heart attack? Am I still a single cell organism? None of this stacks up, something is going on. Do the scientists know the truth, but are keeping it secret? Does the government know what is going on, but not telling us? Do I have to turn to Youtube for answers?
Nobody knows, of course, and perhaps nobody ever will. Maybe the limits of our perception lock us into a subjectivity that is simply impossible to escape. Still, such matters are useful for occupying our minds while we lay in bed waiting to drift off to sleep, which I am probably doing at this very moment in some unit of existence or other.

You always gave time to write your daily blog
And spend time answering each and every comment in a way that in MHO shows you have time to spare
Perhaps Dr Who can explain it to your satisfaction
Mix it up a little
Though its been said ..... nope nope, its neither me nor mine
Save those for a dating site.
Or...did you get a sudden flash of inspiration?
Or...maybe you got brainwashed?
Do you really want to debate this topic and want all your questions answered?...I doubt it!
As I've said many times...Time and Space are a human concept.
Yes..of course!
But..be careful what you think as it echoes throughout of eternity.
GG...I haven't had a watch since I've been in Spain..20 years now.
At first It was a matter of convenience with the outdoor lifestyle that I am enjoying here.
But...over the years I've found that it isn't at all needed as I learned to tell the time from the shadows.
Also...there's always somebody..somewhere who are eager to tell you!
A good example: if you happen to be late for an appointment, or phoning a person at an inconvenient time..they will remind you of it by saying: "do YOU realise what time it is?!!!"
I've pondered this blog since it was posted and yet am still searching for some intelligent comment to define time.
Is it finite or infinite? How many occasions have we said " I haven't got time". Is this a logical answer ? Of course it's not, but we still use the terminology to pass off not doing a particular task or joining in an event etc. Our past is behind us and we cannot go back, and our future lies ahead so we must progress forward as we are not able to stand still in time.
For me each new day is a new beginning to use my time in the best way I can, to try to embrace the life I have and value every second given to me. The expression time waits for no man means that some things are inevitable, such as birth, death, the sun rising in the morning, and the passage of time. No man can control such inevitable natural phenomena or facts of life.
I have a limited time left on this earth and will hopefully appreciate everything that comes my way in the hope that it is for my good and not a disaster ,so for me time is precious.
Hope you can understand my train of thought.
And how is it possible to know what happens in an eternity?
Is it even possible to be careful about what we think? We don't really know what we are going to think beforehand, and by the time we do know, it is too late to do anything about it.
As it turned out, you made a few intelligent comments, so you were worrying over nothing.
I could add that time is CIRCULAR and..like Herbie wrote...past..present..and future is all happening simultaneously.
I wrote a blog about this a while ago and had some very interesting comments.
GG..glad I made you laugh!
I remember when I first went to England..when asking a man "have you got the time?"..he would answer "yes..if you give me the opportunity!!"
I went to the School of Philosophy some years ago for 2 evening classes per week. I studied all the right books [to name drop ] and what the various teachers had to say, and I decided some of them were up their own a**-s if you will pardon me being crude. Great philosophers but all coming from their own philosophy and life experience and I don't pretend to be well educated in the classics. But that is my tuppence worth. Not thinking is an art form for me when I go deep in to my transcendental meditation and stay there for about 20 mins twice a day.
I have started out sessions being tired, agitated or annoyed. You could say CS over and over but that would make you jump out of the window. Just something like Relax probably would work as well as my secret Hindu word.
I did not think it would work, it does. If you can nap during the day for 20 mins that is great. I love a nap. When I worked in Civil service we had rest rooms where we would set a clock timer and have a nap during lunch time if we were tired. it was terrific, a half an hour and back to work feeling great.
We had a sort of hard bed with a disposable cover and pillow cover. It was heaven though.
Your destiny is in your hands but sometimes fate has a way of altering your designated journey and not always in a good way. I like to view life as a giant learning curve. Some people learn from past demeanours others just carry on down the path of destruction.
If we were able to see into the future and didn't like what we saw could we alter our course or is it all mapped out beforehand ?
Always remember though that life isn't a dress rehearsal.
I wouldn't worry too much about fluffing your lines.
I'm more concerned about keeping my age lines at bay.
