Sorry for yelling I was yelling over the tele because the mute button on the tele didn't work giggle giggle
Did the law enforcement officers know it Bobby Rush's office?

Were they deliberately disrespecting his position, space and property, or was it simply an opportunist burglary?
You nailed it Mic thumbs up hug

Wanna hear more bad news..That cop will be receiving a pension worth over one million dollars..He's entitled to that pension when found guilty very mad
Where will that pension go, though?

Presumably he won't be able to spend it for quite a number of years, if ever, if he is found guilty. Unless he can spend it on appeals.

Will it go to his soon to be ex-wife? Does he have children who will need support and shouldn't have to suffer because of his actions?

Will it be used to pay reparations to George Floyd's child(ren) who shouldn't have to suffer any more than they already have as a consequence of his actions?
Prisons for profit is an unspeakable disaster. Businesses exist to make profit. In this case more prisoners = more profit. Such a hideous incentive. You can be sure some of those "profits" have made their way to legislators who have ensured the continuation and expansion of prisons for profit. So tragic. Money is the root of so much evil.

1) I dunno dunno

2) I dunno, BUT ... I'm going to make a guess on this one.
It was stated that a window in the office had been broken, presumably by rioters.
The gutless Pigs "investigated" & discovered a convenient "Safe Space" in which to hide out hole while people's lives & property were being jeopardized.
Understandable, I suppose -- They might've gotten Hurt out there, despite all the expensive riot gear seen set down 'round the office.

Couches sleep & refreshments coffee popcorn gave their cozy li'l bunker a more "homey" feel in which to sit out their shift happy place
I reckon they figured the missing refreshments would be blamed on Looters -- SURELY not on those Sworn to Protect & Serve!! scold

It's Incomprehensibly stupid that COPS didn't suspect (ASSUME!!) the premises were under video surveillance.
I mean ... SERIOUSLY, Guys?? rolling on the floor laughing

IF ... They were aware that it was the office of Congressman Rush, they're Not Stupid -- They're paralyzed from the neck up.

Were it up to ME, I'd Can that whole bunch of Pigs like so much SPAM ...

The surveillance camera footage raises Another question --
If that surveillance camera caught THIRTEEN Gutless Pigs -- How many More Piggies were hunkered down in Other "Safe Spaces" -- but Not caught on camera?
Hmmm??

hmmm

Chicago has some of the strictest Gun Control Laws in the U.S.
Y'all can bet your last box of cartridges the Pro-Gun Rights groups will use that surveillance camera footage in ads supporting the 2nd Amendment -- And those ads will be Devastatingly Effective ... not a shred of doubt 'bout it.

So this is about highlighting one of the many problems relating to funding and protecting police officers who act illegally, including with brutality.

It's not that Derek Chauvin will definitely get a million dollar retirement package, it's that the possibility needs to addressed as a part of reform.

I was agreeing with You & expanded on what was in Your vocaroo, Merc cheers

cowboy
Ex-cop charged with killing George Floyd still eligible for pension worth over $1M even if he’s convicted

Jac the above is the headline..I listened to them speak out it on the tele..They say he will receive it even if found guilty & they're worried this will cause rioting.
I was agreeing with You & expanded on what was in Your vocaroo, Merc cheers

hug
The way you put it across is inflammatory.

You have said that he will be receiving over one million dollars.

(And it should be IF found guilty, not WHEN)

The headline...

...says he will be ELIGIBLE even IF convicted.

It doesn't say he will definitely be found guilty, nor does it say he will definitely receive over $1M.

The article you C&P'd suggests that he could start receiving payments when he's 50 (6 years time), but if he waits until he's 55 years old he could receive a yearly income in the order of $50K a year. To receive $1-1.5M he'd have to live another 20-30 years after commencement, so until the age of 75-85.

IF he gets convicted of second degree murder and given the maximum 40 year sentence before being eligible for parole (is that right?), he'll be 84 years old IF he lives that long.

I read the article as suggesting this is another area of the police department which needs reform, but I read your original statement as sensationalism.

It would be chucking petrol on the fire if Derek Chauvin gets a nice lump sum, or even a yearly income, particularly if he's not in gaol, but I think perhaps we have to be mindful of not using any accelerant prematurely.

Sensationalism? Here?? On OUR BLOGS?!

I suppose it Might be that the Pigs desired a hideout & Arranged for the window to be broken so they could "investigate" wink ... like --
"Hey kid! A rock through that window will get you $20!"

Not sure what really happened. According to the President of the Fraternal Order of Police - Rush's office windows were broken by the peaceful protesters. The staff called for police to come and help from further looting. The officers showed up - the looters had moved on and the staffers told them to come in and make themselves at home. Now the staffers are saying they never called. It should be easy enough to trace a call to the police. I'm not sure what our mayor is so upset by. Police were standing by all over the city last week while fires burned and businesses were looted and / or burned. Why? They were told not to put themselves in harms way. Well hell, isn't their jiob to put themselves in harm's way? I don't know - it's just such a jacked up world.

Is it me? Or is there an Oxymoron in there somewhere? confused

No, it's not their job. Their job is to serve and protect the public. That doesn't mean they should stand in front of a mob with guns or torches if they know they will die.

Most of the rest of your post is correct. They were told to go to the office to stop protesters from looting.

People are looking for ways to shame ALL police officers. That's the same as saying the mobster John Gotti who was Italian, put a black mark on all Italians.

Nobody wants to see a police officer sleeping on the job but the officers who were videoed sleeping and doing nothing were using their best judgement how to protect that government office. That is how they served the public. That is how taxpayers money was put to use.
Really, thirteen of them (at one point more I think it was said) snacking on stolen refreshments, sleeping and leaving the place in a mess to protect one office from being looted while businesses were actually in the process of being looted and damaged?

Instead of looting and leaving a mess themselves, wouldn't it have been more sensible to leave one, or two conscious officers guarding the treasures inside who could call for back up if necessary?

And, as if that isn't dull enough, I've just realised I messed up my 'anagramme' joke. sigh

The chief of police assured folks his officers acted appropriately smile

Happily, the officers outnumbered her 3 - 1. Had she confronted only 2 (or, God forbid please she'd taken on a single officer mono y mano) they'd have been forced to use DEADLY Force & the incident would not have resolved so pleasantly very happy

Sarcasm aside --
I've worked volunteer EMS.
I'm of the opinion that her age alone indicated the incident Should've been dealt with primarily as a Medical situation, with LE standing by if needed.
