Michael Packman, CEO and Pres. of Voice of America.

I've blogged about how many statist, taxpayer funded broadcast outlets, with the Beeb and US PBS topping the list of shame. They actually began quite evenhandedly as to politics, initially garnering such support. Still largely enjoy this attachment to the public teat. But the public is hardly all left wing. Yet over the past decades, with newer staffers from journalism schools, holding degrees in hand from the ueber leftie academy,----well, just look and listen these days.
As a life long Extra Class Radio Amateur, as well as an avid listener to short wave broadcasts, I've seen lots of propaganda, both right and left, on the air waves. The charter of VOA includes language about supporting the policies of the USA. Same with their own charters for other international stations.
This Trump appointment was also at the helm of PBS, so be knows a little about bias in the media. He's letting go a few such biased staffers at the VOA---long overdue.
Elections have consequences, in lots of directions.

I would have to disagree, most radio broadcasts are only biased when they say something YOU disagree with. I'm not sure why you think Ham Radio is relevant In this discussion, or were you just boasting that you are a life long Extra Class Radio Amateur? Which means you have a license to use Morse as well as telephony.
VOA was a preferred choice by English teachers worldwide and it was approved by counties such as Korea, Japan, India, and China among many more. Until Trump appointed Michael Pack (not Packman as stated) as CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which among other things oversees the Voice of America (VOA). After Pack was investigated for transferring millions of dollars into his own company from Global media, VOA lost a vast international audience, more likely because Pack is a Trump yes man.
If you have an open mind rather than having a fixed narrow mind, you would find mainstream radio broadcasts are usually far less biased than FOX, CNN etc etc.rolling on the floor laughing
Well said, Riz, though Vier is not going to hear you from his far right stance.
Whether a broadcasters finance comes from a governmental source or a private backer, there will always be some biased reporting, you don't bite the hand that feeds you.
I really fail to understand why people are so strung up on whats left wing, Right wing.
A good view/idea should not be ignored because it comes from a direction one doesn't pay into.
And one should not listen to a single source to make up ones mind
Listening to sources from left/right and centre usually gives the listener/reader a fairly true idea of the points being discussed.
But of course, the far left and far right refuses to even conceder any source other than their biased and fake own sources.
Left and right are relative concepts. If you move too far to the right, moderate will appear to be to the left of you. dunno

The same principle applies if you go too far left, of course. drinking
My apologies, yes the extra class is just the same as a Full British license used to be 20 years ago, except that in the UK we had to also pass a morse test, that has now been dropped sadly. It separated the dross from the real amateurs.
Think I caught Jac's virus, posting and then being called "Unknown" laugh laugh
