do you give discounts to friends lol
Nice seeing you again
Nice to be ( kind of ) back
In my books if someone is looking for a lover, their looking to share their bedroom only...
but when looking for love, their looking to share their life with, instead
JMO.
But must be different in English.
Origin is LOVE. in English too.

It appears that meanings may differ in regions or countries.
For example
In a formal setting you might ask someone 'how is your husband / wife'
In a casual setting you might ask someone 'how is the love of your life'
But you would never ask someone 'how is your lover' (except maybe lads having the crack in a pub)
It would be considered rude and too personal to say lover, because of the underlying connotation.
This would be the case in my experience, it's possible that it's not even nationwide.
So here, if someone said they wanted to take a lover, it would only mean one thing.
When in Rome, I suppose.
