In to the wild

I have been in the wild for some days.

Ocean on one side but acres and acres of thick forestry all around.

My temporary abode.

The safari vehicle is not the coolest ride. ( I mean not comfortable) Bumpy rides in dusty roads. Body feels like beaten up.

I think wild has lived in peace for quite some time.

I know we have to be careful about the virus. But the wheels of economy have to roll. Livelihoods have to be powered up.

I have taken 3 rides in to wild. Today I am taking a rest.

There are plenty of deer, buffaloes, peacocks, and wild boars. But I am looking for leopards. Beautiful but shy animals.

Hi Usha...well for a wild girl like you, the wild seems the perfect place to be!

Tell me....are you going wild in the wild? grin banana kiss
Hey Usha, Where are you? I was hoping to visit Wilpattu when I was in SL, but never had the chance.
The Sri Lanka Leopard is now one of the most endangered species in SL, but I understand there is a special breeding program in place.
Awesome pics Usha wave
Hey, U. Nice wild and dangerous area, and was it Wilpattu, as others have asked? Look like Asian pachyderms?Just stay away from other wild and dangerous areas, as in some US inner cities. Chicago! Detriot. St. Louis. NYC. Much more dangerous for hupersons than for animals here. Accommodations snazzy, but a bit so for my idea of safari life. Must have been fun.
Perhaps you could let your vehicle tyre down a bit, might lessen some of the bumps. Like in if you have highway tyre pressure of say 36 psi in your tyres perhaps you could consider lowering the pressure to say 28 psi
When i google off road tyre pressure guild get information like: -
What is the best tire pressure for off roading?
Generally, for most off road vehicles 15-20 PSI is a good starting point compared to 35 PSI +/- found on most stock tires. For very soft sand - such as dune running - 10 PSI may be optimal but at tire pressures that low, you are risking the tire coming off the bead.Jul 15, 2018

What PSI should a 4x4 TYRE be?
As a general rule you should follow the recommended tyre pressures as stated on your vehicle's tyre placard for on-road driving which, for most 4×4 wagons and utes, will be between 30psi and 38psi.Feb 19, 2018

Is 30 psi enough for tires?
Being low on pressure doesn't hurt the tire or the wheel at all, unless they get very low, like 10 PSI. Also, you should check your owner's manual to see what the correct tire pressure setting is. 30 PSI is a safe bet, although the odds of your car specifying exactly 30 are rare.

I have a 4x4 Ute that i use in the bush quite a lot and equally on tar highway driving. I've set my tyre pressures in the morning when the tyre is cold at the usual 29 psi, soon after you drive for couple km the tyre pressure will increase to around 32 psi.
Managed isolation
If people do not have symptoms of COVID-19 on arrival, they will be placed in a managed isolation facility. They may not leave their facility unless they have applied for and received an exemption from isolation from health officials. However, they can go for walks under the condition they do not have contact with other people in the community.

Quarantine
If people do have symptoms of COVID-19 on arrival, or test positive after arrival, they will be placed in a quarantine facility. These people will be unable to leave their room.

Facilities
All travellers who arrive in New Zealand will be tested for COVID-19 at their respective facilities. Details of how and when the testing will happen will be provided at the facility.

All people in managed isolation and quarantine will be provided with three meals a day, and have other basic needs met such as having prescription medicines delivered to them.

There is no cost to people in these facilities for accommodation, food or associated basic needs. People may use online delivery services to purchase items at their own cost. Friends and family members may not visit or drop off items to people staying in these facilities.

Before leaving the facility, a final health check will be carried out confirming the person:

has not tested positive for COVID-19 or is not a probable case
does not have symptoms of COVID-19
has a temperature below 38 degrees Celsius.
doh dunno
Maybe, Oh Well, wrong blog.
B'bye.
Hey must be Wahpattu. Those are Asian elephants, no? Safari accommodations a bit ritzy for my tastes, but look very nice. On my bucket list.
Ok I want to join the 'guessing Game'

I say you are at Yala National Parkdunno

rolling on the floor laughing
Enjoy Usha.
Looks like fun to me. I hope you find more leopards.
Perhaps use one of those cushions to sit on for those bumpy rides. head banger
Robbyreal, wave

Good to see you around. bouquet

Not going wild in the wild. I am behaving. But peed in the park. doh although there are rest rooms I couldn't hold till I get there. I had to mark my territory leopard way. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
No photos of that ? dunno laugh
Riz, wave

Not Wilpattu. I am in Yala. Southern part. The highway was completed few months ago. So it's little more than 3 hour drive.

Wilpattu is a longer drive from Colombo and no highway. But I have to go up to that area very soon. An elephant mother gave birth to twin cubs. I hope I get to see them. It's first time recorded twins here.
rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

That is a compliment Robert.

I wish I could be a tribal woman and live like a maasai woman in the wild with animals. They don't have to wear bras.laugh
Unless the driver took a pic of that event Jim. rolling on the floor laughing

uh oh I hope he didn't. laugh
They, tha, they, they Don't wear Bras??? (gulp!) wow

Awww-rrright! Eh, Where is this place? I'm going there soon. Woo hoo!!! dancing
Luke, wave you are right. I am in Yala. Nothing like Ngorongoro or Maasai mara. But still good to be in natural world watching natural behaviour. bouquet
You wish you could be like one of them women in the wild? wow

You can at least dress like them,, sometimes. grin
And, and, and send me pictures.
party hat
Vierk, I am not a tent and a camping person. I am scared of insects and I scream if I see a weird creature. I might scare a lot of animals away from their habitats with screaming. So I rather stay in a hotel. laugh

Asian elephants are much smaller than the African elephants. I prefer African elephants but I love elephants in general. There is one coming to the hotel every morning. But I never got to see him.

Hope all is well with you. bouquet
Robert, Robert, now don't get excited. Aren't you still in lock down?

You can not go to those places as of now. comfort calm down .
I may be in "Stay home, sometimes" mode, but I can still make plans for when this is over. Besides, my libido still rages on.. eh well, for at least 2 to 3 minutes each week.
head banger
Ash, we opened up about 3 weeks ago. But I feel we will go in to lock down soon again.

There are safety measures, and of course I wear a mask when out in public. Carry alcohol based sanitizer in my hand bag.

I think we have to be cautious but still take few chances to live life. grin
Eish Robert, you break your own rule of admit to nothing. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Two three minutes is nothing you should admit. doh
who arrive in New Zealand will..
My apologies it was for a different travel blog.
I wore a mask like this one to the store the other day, and they STILL told me I couldn't come in.
Sheesh!

Okay then,
5 minutes. thumbs up grin
Robplum, the vehicle is not mine actually. We hire a person to drive us around. They have these crazy vehicles modified to do off road travel. It's their livelihood. They haven't worked for more than two months due to lockdown.

This is a modified vehicle. I went with this guy several times. We get a good view. But it is a vehicle from another planet.laugh

bouquet
Robert, you stick to 3 minutes and exceed the expectation by two minutes. That is 5.

Good selling strategy. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Thank you Merc. bouquet
Yeah, now that you say it like that. It sounds better.
Cool!
grin groundhog
I have to get back to Colombo Robert. Looks like we will go in to another lock down. I am cursed this year with travelling. Never mind.

Thank you for the nice company. bouquet

Have a wonderful evening there. teddybear
That is your prettiest photo to date Usha.
I hope that was not your "bush" outfit giggle
Usha,

Looks like a great getaway Usha. It nice you are getting to have a holiday. I just hope the new road doesn't bring so many people that the animals move away or fail to thrive. wave
