I (don't) approve of this ad...

For a few months now I've been hearing the phrase "defund the police" and the first time it was someone who feared it (literally) meant taking away money appropriated for police, as in dismantling the police force. Woooo ~~~ so scary!
Yes, it sounds that way as it comes out it the light of current protests.

The TV was on and I was watching some talk show videos on YouTube explaining the purpose of defunding was to be proactive and develop community programs to help resolve issues BEFORE it escalates into a problem for the police to handle. That makes sense. In the case of domestic abuse. By the time police are called, it's too late for something that counseling may have helped avoid a confrontation.

My attention was steered to an ad on TV in the other room... a political ad. I missed the visual. By the time I entered the room the ad was ending and Donald Trump endorsed it.

15 minutes later the ad played again. It showed protest/riots and claimed you won't be safe in Joe Biden's America. The ad depicted a darkened unmanned police department and a single light flashing on the phone that was playing a recorded message. The recording instructed several options for the caller and if you leave a message, someone will get back to you within a week!

I'm thinking the season for dirty politics is in full swing.

That is what Republicans do during the last 10 years
They play on the irrational fears of the ignorant and dumb.
FOX 'news' specializes in this.
In a perfect world replacing the police with community programs might work. Unfortunately we don't live anywhere near perfect. I'm just amazed how the left has bought into this narrative that the cops are the bad guys and the bad guys just need a hug. Your rude awakening ain't going to be pretty. scold
The election is only a few months away and Trump will give people what they want for a vote.

He is not challenging the court about DACA as today he sign to help Daca: he wants votes.
He will make the second stimulus check much more than what the democrats wants: he wants votes.
He made Kanye West said he will run for president (to take away the black votes): he wants votes.
etc. etc. etc. etc....

We all need the police to respond to our little emergencies. What we don't need is to become victims of those calls. The police department needs to train, retrain, and educated their policemen/women.
Police stations will not be eliminated en masse.
Instead SOME of that money will instead fund social programs to better deal
with issues that the police are not good with.

You call 911 with an issue and based on the answers to their questions,
they send a specialist for that issue, rather than automatically sending police.
The country ran better when it was on lock-down. Things got out of hand and people didn't learn anything. We have a virus on the loose. the invisible dummy. If you had given this knowledge before the Chinese virus the whole world would have been saved.Today Dr.Tedros WHO still after biopsy this cell is incompetence as a professional.
To be clear... I'm actually not concerned if defunding works or not.
The focus of my blog is about deceptive campaign ads.
You are both right. It's deceptive on several levels.
Unfortunately, there will be negative and deceptive ads from both sides. I've seen one from Biden as well. I, for one, don't pay attention to the ads of either side because I know that both sides go for the shock and awe.
Would you expect anything else from a man who continually uses deception and fear as a means to control and gain power over the majority?
Trump has lost it and the GOP, at last, is finally seeing the daylight, with each day more and more Senates going against Trump's outlandish remarks and decisions.

"Republicans are really fed up': GOP increasingly splits with Trump as his polls drag"
That's one way to look at it. But, what if police are not using excessive force murdering people
and more social services were available to help people in need ?
The "riots" wouldn't be going on.
1) This blog is about deceptive campaign ads.
2) Biden is already on record for not in favor of defunding.
3) Since I mentioned it twice, let me know if you need a venue for blog comments about defunding the police and I'll post an appropriate blog and we can all meet there.
Yeah chat you're right. That's why I don't pay too much attention to any of the ads. I'll watch the debates, listen to the news (and not just from one source) and take it from there. Selfish or not, I usually go with whoever comes closest to what I believe or want.
Isn't that indicative of how well deceptive campaign commercials work?
Its indicative of all "politics" whether in the education, medical or legal systems.Politicize:
"make (someone) politically aware
, especially by persuading them of the truth of views considered radical."
Aka Woke.
It is an inherent part. Like those that love the debates as much as the campaign..The Hype.
