I got vaccinated against the virus yesterday.
Yep, after my 'infamous' walk to the store yesterday (see other blog), I went to a pharmacy and got vaccinated. This was not my first one either. We microbiologists have an inside access.
This was my second vaccine for this virus.
It didn't hurt much at all. There's a little soreness where the needle went in, but not much.
No other side effects at all. Yeah, as I was sayi......BILL GATES IS GOD.
Whoa. Where did that come from ? Probably just a typo.
Funny. I can't get the computer to edit the blog.
VOTE FOR TRUMP NOW...... Ok, this is really strange.
You know it would not be like me at all to type that sort of.... BUY HYDROXYQUINONE.
Just kidding. Besides, the vaccine I got was against shingles. I got the first shot in January.
The second one yesterday. The odd part & this is real - I tried to get the second shingles shot
a couple of months ago. But, because of Covid-19 no one wanted to give vaccines.
I said, "how the heck are you going to give Covid-19 shots, when that vaccine becomes available,
if you're too afraid to give shots ?" I got a lot of blank stares.
A month from now, I scheduled a pneumonia shot. I'll get a flu shot in December and hopefully
a Covid-19 shot before the year is up. Vaccines. They work for you. They prime the immune system
to give a faster more complete response, if you do get infected.

That's true.
I was wondering if they have tested any of the Nasal Sprays to see if they kill the Virus, in the same way soap does when we wash our hands. It would be handy to have one in your pocket. If you felt you were too near someone and they breathed on you, a quick spray might help.
My arm fell off during the night and rolled under the bed. Three days later, I found it and had it reattached.
When I worked as a microbiologist, at a university, I tested the leading brand of
hand sanitizer and found it useless. I tested 50 people and not did bacterial counts not
go down after usage, they actually went up. Washing with soap and water was effective.
I theorized, that the sanitizer brought the bacteria up from the folds in your skin,
but did not kill the microbes. I had the university stop buying the stuff. They bought lots of it.
I got a call in my office. It was the president of the company. I asked how he tested the sanitizer.
He said they left bacteria immersed in the solution overnight and then plated it along with the sanitizer.
Obviously, that is not how hand sanitizer is used. I tested it with dining hall food handlers, on their hands,
Before, and then either after using hand sanitizer or using soap and water. It was a 2 week study.
I went over the results I got and he actually tried to buy off my results. His exact statement was...
"If you repeat your experiments and get different results, I'll buy your department a nice autoclave."
My reply was.... "Homey don't play that game !"
Also, although I don't mind priming my immune system with a tiny bit of antigen,
I'm not into putting unnatural chemicals in my body, UNLESS it's a last resort.
The body has not evolved to process artificial ingredients and sometimes in trying to
do so, it can cause cancer.
There are others like Fluticasone furoate which includes a steroid. These products are already on the market.
When I compared it to washing hands I meant might there be something in the product which may dissolve the outer layer of the virus and kill it, which is nothing complicated, not a chemical. By 'they', I meant researchers, often in Universities. I asked you because of your background. I noticed your blog is in Health, not comedy, so on topic.
However, with some people, it's simply a waste of breath.
But is it really so, that hand sanitaser doesn't kill bacteria? My impression is the opposite: it kills bacteria (which in its turn affects gut flora negatively), but not effective against virus. Can, though, depend on the sort of sanitaser.
But is it really so, that hand sanitaser doesn't kill bacteria?
over an extended period of time (i.e. overnight), but not in the way it is usually used. What it does do, is give people a false sense of security. It is MUCH better to remove the bacteria by washing the hands with soap and water. The added benefit is that the virus that causes Covid-19 is susceptible to soap with water. The lipoprotein coat of the virus is dissolved within 2 minutes, rendering the virus unable to attach to target cells, and thus not able to inject it's RNA into the host sell and replicate.
They will now track your every move.
