2 Ohio football players suspended for waving 'thin blue line, 'thin red line' flags at game

Even though they're no longer suspended, they should have never been suspended in the first place! very mad

Two football players at Little Miami High School have been placed back on active status after being suspended from practice for carrying a "thin blue line" flag and "thin red line" flag across the field before their game on Sept. 11.

School officials said in a statement Tuesday the students did not get permission from district officials to carry the flags on the field and that's why they were suspended from practice while they investigated the incident.

"School administrators must act when students break the rules, and these students were suspended from practice while the incident was investigated," Little Miami Local School Board of Education President Bobbie Grice said in a statement Tuesday.

Following the investigation, Grice said they found there were no political motivations behind the display of support for first responders, however they still broke the rules by not getting permission to carry the flags.

The players have been placed back on active status and the incident will be addressed as an Athletic Department Code of Conduct issue by coaching staff.

"Little Miami Local Schools is saddened to see this story take such a negative turn. The district enjoys an outstanding relationship with our local police and fire agencies," Grice said. He went on to reference an event they had later in the day in honor of the anniversary of 9/11.

"As the season continues, the only two flags that will come through the Little Miami football tunnel are the flag of the United States of American and the Little Miami spirit flag. The Board of Education supports this decision of district administration," Grice said.

The incident has since been shared all over social media, capturing the attention of President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. who tweeted, saying "It's outrageous that these students were punished for celebrating our amazing police officers. They showed real courage standing up for what they thought was right."

The whole thing was just a political stunt. For that reason alone they should of been suspended. Maybe they can make a flag for Trumps success with North Korea next time, since the Nobel thing didn't pan out.
