Maybe they believe she will be T-Rump's puppet. That for her to decide. But the Supreme Court by design is not subject to the other 2 branches, and Justices may serve for life.
But one wonders what she would do in this scenario: What if she is confirmed before Nov 3, and the Presidential election goes to the Supreme Court, as in Bush vs Gore? Should she recuse herself? Then if the Court deadlocked at 4-4, who makes the fatal choice? The Vice President, or could Coney jump back into the melee and sort-of vote for herself?
What if she is confirmed before Nov 3 ...
"Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. who leads the Senate Judiciary Committee – the panel tasked with vetting judicial nominees – said four days of confirmation hearings will begin Oct. 12 and that the committee should clear Barrett's nomination by Oct. 26. That would leave the full Republican-led Senate with roughly a week to confirm Barrett in the final days of the presidential campaign."
Election Betting Odds puts the chances that Barrett will be Confirmed Before Election Day @ 72% ...
Good or bad, change is coming....
The Constitution states in Article II, Section 2: “
[The President] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint…Judges of the Supreme Court.”
It doesn’t get more simple than that. Don’t just know your Constitution, Live it!
Just send to me don't know if this is correct
Up 15% from 72% two days ago ...
Post-Debate Betting Odds put ACB's chances of Confirmation Before Election UP a whopping 20 Points to 94%
That's 5 Points MORE than the 89% chance that The Don will serve our his full term.
(Not Resign or be Removed From Office.)
That said -
The REAL significance of her influence on the Court is the effect of replacing Far Left RBG with Far Right ACB - As Cartoonsplained using the Median Justice concept ...
Replacing Far Left RBG with Far Right ACB may've shifted the Balance of the Court more than any Single SCOTUS Appointment in the history of the Republic.
No One will Ever explain to me Why RBG didn't retire in, say, '15 and let Barry O nominate her successor. ...
ACB is 48 yo.
Should she live a year longer than RBG and not retire - Her replacement will be an issue in 2060
Cases on which she'll give opinions & precedents set by those cases could Easily influence U.S. Law well into the 22nd Century.
NOW one may become giddy Or distraught -
Depending how one regards that prospect.
Impossible to know right now.
Susan Collins was the only 'Publican who voted Not to confirm -
Other than that, it was strictly along Party lines.
