Thank you, Danish government + some good news!
Before this covid crisis came, and sidelined EVERYTHING I had planned, I had saved up some money to use on a holiday. Think of it as an extra savings account. Every year, you can apply to get the money to your account, tax free. It's the same thing that happens here, so I applied for mine. I am on government benefits, but my holiday money was saved up while I was working as a temp worker. Normally, the holiday money were going to be subtracted from my benefits, but the deal they made had a little clause in it: Nobody on benefits would be subjected to having the money subtracted from the benefits, which makes me a VERY happy bunny! The holiday money are going straight into my savings account, so I have them for a deposit to an apartment. If all goes well, I will hopefully get a place of my own next year. Also, the government is giving all of us on benefits, ONE grand tax free, just to boost the economy. There are currently 1 million 25 thousand 525 people in retirement, and 127 thousand people on benefits. In total, that is 1 million 222 thousand 524 people combined. One grand each is around 1.2 billion Danish kroner, that the government is paying out tax free. I don't know the exact number of holiday money being paid out, but they estimate around 60 billion kroner. That's an absurd amount of money. 9.4 billion US, give or take a few hundred thousand.
So therefore, I say: Thank you, government!
Also: My uncle is officially out of hospital. His surgery went well, so now he is at home, resting and recovering.
