No reason to wear a mask...
It appears there's no reason to wear a mask at the White House as everyone working there has COVID-19 and under quarantine.White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and 2 of her deputies are on the list!
My suggestion... If you plan to have a tour of the White House on Columbus Day, it would be a good idea to postpone that trip!

Hopefully, it isn't tackily gold plated sometime this year.
Sort of like the one on the rubber package.
It doesn't mean wearing a rubber does no good.
It means it isn't a guarantee.
Wearing a mask does a LOT of good.
But, it's not perfect.
Ear loop craft masks (used for, say, not breathing dust when sanding wood) provide minimal protection for the Wearer, If That -
They've been likened to using a chain link fence as mosquito netting.
That Said -
Masks are Very effective as a perpetual visual reminder to do things that Do provide protection -
Distancing, Hand Washing/Sanitizing, Getting Well(!) Cooked Food (e.g. Deep Fried or Stir Fried Asian) - avoid Uncooked foods.
It's a Helluva bad time to be selling Sub Sandwiches ...
I Love 'em, but I'll eat one Only if I've made it at home.
Simple experiment to ascertain the protection provided by an ear loop craft mask -
1) Don one's mask.
2) Mingle with people wearing perfume/cologne/after shave.
Note if toiletry aroma(s) can be detected - A craft mask provides roughly the same "protection" from toiletry aroma as airborne/aerosol covid - or Any virus.
Hence the disclaimer on ear loop craft mask boxes.
Think, y'all - THINK!
A mask does Some good.
However -
If one expects it to do More than it Can do (catch snot & spittle of the wearer) Over reliance could lead to complacency & Increase one's chances of contracting covid.
Long story short - Play along. Wear a mask. But don't trust it for covid protection
The [ real ] mask that would provide protection
From airborne pathogen is very expensive &
Has a fancy technical name & makes an Excellent Halloween mask....it covers the entire head.
Part 2. Those idiot masks everyone wears..
DO NOT PROTECT YOUR EYE GATE
MASK OFF / the Future
Coffee & TV / blur
CORONA / minutemen.... please stand by.
DO NOT PROTECT YOUR EYE GATE
Wraparound glasses provide At Least as much protection from Droplets as an ear loop craft mask (little from Aerosol pathogens).
From airborne pathogen is very expensive &
Has a fancy technical name ...
Others contend that an N99/N100 Medical Respirator is needed for Reliable virus protection ...
Maybe when Trump and his cronies are gone and that place goes through a massive disinfecting.
Epidemiologists say Face Masks do not Prevent Spread of Disease

When Danish health officials were criticized for not making face masks mandatory, they responded by saying there is little evidence they limit the spread of respiratory viruses. Holland also does not require face masks and says: “There is no evidence of a medical effect of wearing face masks.” In Sweden, where COVID-19 deaths have slowed to a crawl, public-health officials say there is “no point” in requiring individuals to wear masks. [Both the US Surgeon General and the CDC have flip-flopped on this issue but keep returning to the ‘wear-the-mask’ position, perhaps as a psychological measure to convince the sleeping public convinced that the pretended pandemic is real.] -GEG
Denmark boasts one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the world. As of August 4, the Danes have suffered 616 COVID-19 deaths, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.
That’s less than one-third of the number of Danes who die from pneumonia or influenza in a given year.
Despite this success, Danish leaders recently found themselves on the defensive. The reason is that Danes aren’t wearing face masks, and local authorities for the most part aren’t even recommending them.
This prompted Berlingske, the country’s oldest newspaper, to complain that Danes had positioned themselves “to the right of Trump.”
“The whole world is wearing face masks, even Donald Trump,” Berlingske pointed out.
This apparently did not sit well with Danish health officials. They responded by noting there is little conclusive evidence that face masks are an effective way to limit the spread of respiratory viruses.
“All these countries recommending face masks haven’t made their decisions based on new studies,” said Henning Bundgaard, chief physician at Denmark’s Rigshospitale, according to Bloomberg News. (Denmark has since updated its guidelines to encourage, but not require, the use of masks on public transit where social distancing may not be possible.)
Denmark is not alone.
Despite a global stampede of mask-wearing, data show that 80-90 percent of people in Finland and Holland say they “never” wear masks when they go out, a sharp contrast to the 80-90 percent of people in Spain and Italy who say they “always” wear masks when they go out.
Dutch public health officials recently explained why they’re not recommending masks.
“From a medical point of view, there is no evidence of a medical effect of wearing face masks, so we decided not to impose a national obligation,” said Medical Care Minister Tamara van Ark.
Others, echoing statements similar to the US Surgeon General from early March, said masks could make individuals sicker and exacerbate the spread of the virus.
“Face masks in public places are not necessary, based on all the current evidence,” said Coen Berends, spokesman for the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment. “There is no benefit and there may even be negative impact.”
In Sweden, where COVID-19 deaths have slowed to a crawl, public health officials say they see “no point” in requiring individuals to wear masks.
“With numbers diminishing very quickly in Sweden, we see no point in wearing a face mask in Sweden, not even on public transport,” said Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s top infectious disease expert.
REAL Virus protection - As opposed to Virtue Signalling ear loop paper Craft Masks.
Surgical masks (Roughly similar to ear loop paper Craft Masks)
Also called a medical mask, a surgical mask is a loose-fitting disposable mask that protects the wearer's nose and mouth from contact with droplets, splashes and sprays that may contain germs. A surgical mask also filters out large particles in the air. Surgical masks may protect others by reducing exposure to the saliva and respiratory secretions of the mask wearer.
At this time, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved any type of surgical mask specifically for protection against the coronavirus, but these masks may provide some protection when N95 masks are not available.
Masks catch snot & spittle - To that extent, they're effective.

BTW, this blog is about the White House and virus.
