Does anybody know much about Hungary?

I've been hearing Hungary is a great country to visit and even to move to. I think a lot of American expats are moving there. What are the pros and cons?

I was born in Hungary and I love my country. Yes, you heard it well, foreigners are moving here in the recent years, especially from Western European countries, but from America too.
Soony, you don't like America.

You trying to live in other people's country.

Make sure you leave an address so when I start to travel those countries I may look you up.
@Soonyuleknow

If you move, we will be in the neighbourhood, so feel free to drop by for a coffee! thumbs up laugh
soony ,,
well property is really cheap there ,and the cost of living is also very cheap , it is ideally situated to visit many other european countries ,,the main draw back would be the amount of roma that live there , and i am not saying all roma are bad ,,but quite a few have little respect for others or the land ,,
Melody your profile is very impressive. I noticed you teach Hungarian and English. Hungary sounds like a very interesting place. I was looking at airbnb and accommodations are quite reasonable for modern flats in Budapest. I hope the COVID vaccines work and travel can resume more normally. Thanks for your reply.
Luna I would enjoy having coffee with you anytime. hug
Edison I had to look roma up. Seems like every rose has its thorn. All and all the great central location and the low cost of living sounds very attractive.
Soon, you do realise that the governing party "Fidesz" is based on a democratic ethos of liberalism, it may not suit your political leanings. Somalia, on the other hand, has a far-right political party, that you would enjoy living under.
I saw something today on a TV screen thatg was showing Euronews that a Hungarian Minister was in some kind of legal trouble, but I didnt catch the details.
riz my feeling is that people need to adapt to new countries when they move there. I have friends in Mexico and Guatemala who say people are welcome to come there as long as they don't try and change things. I respect them for that.

Budapest is a beautiful town! You're going to like it. smile

I think that it would be best if you first visit the country and see how you feel about it. Prior to travelling there - you can meet some Hungarian people online and learn something more about the country and its lifestyle.
Hi luna yes I will do all you suggest before traveling to Budapest. I always try and research an area before going there. Meeting people you can look up when you get there helps a lot, especially if you don't speak the local language. I use airbnb a lot when I travel and I look for families that speak at least a little English. I've stayed with more than two dozen hosts that way and all have been good experiences. Having google translate is also a big help. I might add that everyone I've stayed with has left positive reviews on me. I think listening to all the negative people on CS tends to bring out the worst of me as well. I'm pretty nice in real life. smile
@Soonyuleknow

Debates often bring out the worst of us all. I also noticed that I lack the patience I had before this COVID situation and delete my profile more often than it's normal. laugh

Now you have something to look for and enough time to prepare! wine
I would never go to a country for that reason BN. scold But about much would it cost for 30 minutes? Asking for a friend.help
